Smart thermostat - anyone got any advice?

Want one for the garage, and currently have a NEST thermostat set-up in the house. Problem is the garage (converted) gets way too hot, so I want a valve for the garage I can use to limit the temperature in there (and turn up/down remotely if possible).

Seen a few on amazon, but wondered if anyone had any first hand experience?

As the above say, get a Thermostatic valve and set that to 20 degrees or whatever the "notch" equivalent is. On mine 3/5 bars is around 20 degrees, and when it gets that warm it will close.

No need to have remote valves if the thermostatic ones can do their job, and the system is bled and balanced.

I'll check it out! Don't really know much about this kinda thing but I do think the valves are thermostatic

Should be, if you got the garage converted relatively recently (Building control would have required it), and if a plumber did it, I think they're meant to be "standard" now.

Do they look like this?

If so then they are not working correctly if the radiator is not turning off when the room becomes too hot or it's set too high for the room size.

But as above, you shouldn't need to invest in a remote heating system for an individual radiator. Also make sure your nest thermostat is not near a radiator as they will fight with the TRV.
