Six nations starts today!!

Ireland have historically failed at every World Cup so far. They have failed to make one semi final indeed. However could this be the year they make a mark. Hard to say as they have had false dawns before.

The ABs won’t be at the party this September I feel but neither will England who will go out in the QFs. As will we. I see a France v South Africa final and heartache for a Ireland once again.
The rest of the assessment is spot on, although generous to give England a QF spot! They are very poor. Why do you think Ireland will bottle it? Just because they usually do? This lot seem incredibly complete

I hate to admit it but the French look the real deal these days. It's worth remembering they went through a decade of total abject failure for the National Team. The Top 14 has always been strong but that didn't transfer through to France.

I actually thought England would get a total hammering off either France or Ireland. It seems both are going to do it instead! Ireland going for the Grand Slam in Dublin against England! It doesn't get better if you're Irish.

I actually think the only individuals that will beat Ireland are Ireland themselves, which I very much doubt Farrell will let them. A team full of top game players and evidently ideas to get out of scenarios.

Garry Ringrose's knock looked really nasty, you could see him attempt to get up after the clash and he looked very uncomfortable when the doctor and physio arrived.

Given that none of us give England much chance of victory in Dublin this afternoon whats the thoughts on the margin of defeat.

I say a gallant brave fight and loss by 7 points

I think this might be spot on. It's highly unlikely that we'll got anything in Dublin but I don't feel it'll be the drubbing we had last week. Our midfield is solidly workmanlike so should help keep the score down and the forwards will want to prove a point too after their penalty fest last week. Probably Ireland by 10 and a happy St Patrick's day to them!

Anything less than a total hammering and England can claim a moral victory, such is the difference between the two sides at the moment.

Much though I hope not but I cant see anything but a humbling 20 points plus.
Will probably be proven wrong but I genuinely don't think so. Think we'll hold our own for a bit. The way we are set up we probably won't create anything but let's be honest, today is all about surviving after last week

That was a red card all day long - what the fck was he thinking 😡
I was s red card yes. But harsh to say that. The guys six foot five and 107kg he can't just disappear when someone falls into him.all he could do I'd brace for the inspect. The fact Keenan failed the hia does justify the card a bit mind

I think what swung it was he turned his shoulder which caught Keenan's head - natural reaction but in this day and age it's always going to be a red, especially with Peyper referring. I see Dawson is calling the decision "farcical" which shows how much he knows about the current rules - gets him his clicks I suppose

Edit - though as someone who last week thought England would get absolutely stuffed, I though we did OK and the final score didn't reflect how well they played

The failed hia does remind you why the protocol is there and I think this red was bang on the point of the protocol in that it is designed to hold the player responsible for the consequences of the action and the danger in the contact not the intent.

It’s true Steward couldn’t just disappear. But nor did he materialise at random or beam down from above. He put himself there in a manner of his choosing, creating the conditions for the dangerous contact, however unintended the outcome was. This is precisely what the protocol seeks to hold players to account for.

That's also harsh to me, considering Hansen knocked the ball on, he put himself in a position that he can't rightly have expected the player to appear in front of him with the ball. Modern rules and is a red but there is literally nothing steward could have done without being out of position

I never saw any of the rugby today (was fitting a loft hatch for my son), were there improvements?
Many. We are still extremely limited but we fought hard and win a bunch of turnovers. The aggression in the breakdown rattled Ireland for a bit. There's a line way to go and this world Cup is too soon but we took a slight step forward today
