Sir Keir Starmer

I couldn't make it out neither.

I really hope there is some form of inquiry that goes on after this. Some ministers and medical advisers need to be publicly shamed for their decision makings.

Shaming doesn't work anymore, Tory MP's have worked it out. Especially with the press largely on their side and most people just not interested if they have food, clothes, netflix and a smartphone.

In the past most of the cabinet would be out of politics for good by now. Shaming used to work better than legal, written, constitutional safeguards, which is why not having them wasn't seen as necessary.

On the subject of PMQ's I watched a political review show last night to see how someone else viewed Johnson's performance.

I got the impression that the reviewer was no fan of Johnson, but he said that Johnson did better, and had obviously prepared for Starmer's questions. He also said that Johnson failed to answer the questions as put, but with a bit of bluster, lots of viewers would miss that fact.

He also pointed out that for each question Starmer demonstratedwhy the previous question had not been answered, before moving on to his next question.

Finally he laid the trap of a "world beating track and trace" mechanism for 2 weeks time.

Looking at the newspapers this morning, they, largely, agree with the above analysis.

One thing, from my opinion, that Starmer got spot on, was his response to Johnson accusation that, as leader of the opposition he was bound to put a negative slant on everything. To which Starmer replied, 36,000 deaths is negative. How did Johnson walk into that?

It's not really worth pointing out that Johnson failed to answer the questions though. Who was the last PM to genuinely answer questions from the LOTO during PMQs on a regular basis? Must be someone pre-Thatcher?

Doesn't mean you don't point it out Stu!

Point it out to who? No one watches it and about 90% of the country don’t care. It was the hottest day of the year yesterday. Who on earth is watching PMQs?

I seen 2 reports on it and neither commented on Starmer both literally said Johnson was a lot more aggressive with him and even suggested he should be more on board with sorting the situation.

Starmer is classed as the 28th (I think) most popular Labour MP and there in lies his problem. Only 55% asked know who he is. Compare that to 99% of Johnson. That is not a bad thing before anyone says it... it’s how you win elections

Heard this before Cooper, perhaps you should campaign for parliamentary reform if PMQ is so worthless?

You looked at 2 reports, I looked at all the major papers to see how it was reported.

But you carry on, Johnson will fall.

It isn't significant that he failed to answer them sadly. What is significant is he managed to deflect them.

At least half the country don't care, or don't know about, politics. They are to ignorant to realise he's batting away questions because they are taken in by his charm. This is the problem with modern politics. Keir could be as methodical as a surgeon, slowly and patiently , over the course of the next four years, dismantling everything Johnson says until it's obvious to anyone that cares he's a lying, incompetent charlatan.

Then, the day before the election: Bozo runs around the country with a union jack shouting "We got Brexit done" and there you have it. 5 more years of misery.

I do hope you are wrong ST. Politics to some extent has always been a personality contest, it has been magnified by the amount of news coverage in the age of cable tv.

It is worthless it’s part of a bygone era like most of the parliamentary system. Are you saying you think PMQs has any influence on the electorate? Do you believe it can sway voters from one party to another?

What does every report consist of? Left leaning? Right leaning? Independent analysis. How many reports is there on PMQs?

As stated Johnson won’t fall. He is the most popular and most recognisable conservative politician (fact) his rating is at 40% and the tories hold a 15 point lead over labour. Not that it matters. He is recognised by 99% of the population. He’s the golden goose for the tories. A Tory not viewed as a Tory by most.

I hope I'm wrong too. Just I had a look on the twitter (I know, I know) and the Borisettes know it was a "victory" for Johnson yesterday.

Not being embarrassed and being able to deflect questions is all a large majority of the electorate want from him. The cult of personality outweighs any intelligent political debate. It saddens me but it's the absolute truth.

I never said it was... I asked if you believe it has any influence.

If there is no appeal to the electorate then why fawn over how well or badly someone does. Then make predictions on the back of it.
