I haven’t voted Labour for years however Starmer is far more impressive than BJ and I’m sure has far more going on between his lugs. It’s just a shame that as shadow brexit Secretary he spearheaded the most ridiculous policy going into the last election. Had that not been the case we may not be enduring another four years of this rabble and their huge majority in the commons. Any credible opposition would have wiped the floor with May/Boris.
 
Given the hole in TFL finances I think Khan will be forced into making some unpopular decisions around the congestion charge. Already increased to £15 and 7 days a week there is now talk of the zone extending. I can see that hitting his popularity.
 
I'm not sure how you can put all the blame on the mayor of London for knife crime, surely the lack of police or the funding taken away by the government, are more striking reasons why crime in general is on the rise?

Add to that knife crime is an issue all around the country, including Teesside, is that Khan's fault as well? or is it Andy Preston's?

Yes but a lot who pay that charge are not eligible to vote in the Mayoral election. Me included
 
It's a shame Rory Stewart has pulled out of the next election.
Has always disappointed me that none of the mayor's have attempted to address the housing crisis. Khan is now saying the right things finally with rent control and building one beds. I'll be interested to see if this translates into anything concrete.
 
With Khan I find he seems to make the news more for his involvement in things he doesn’t need to be involved with I.e. spats with trump rather than for the things he should be in the news for.

As with all good mayors he also just tends to blame the gvt for lack of funding.

I think he prob still is, as a few have come close but I can’t recall hearing any of them actually having it.

Trump was never in danger of getting it. You need to be tested before you get anywhere near him. He's even bragged about the testing they do around him and Pence.
As for the original point, Starmer isn't as socialist as I'd like, but I'll vote for him in a heartbeat against any Tory. Even if he is centrist or whatever you want to call him, he'd be a much better PM than all of the current mob out together.

I'm far from convinced he is an opposition to the Tories at all. Does anyone know what he stands for?
He has had little to say about all the corruption that this government is indulging in. Nothing to say about them trashing the rule of law. He gave Johnson his full backing in sending the kids back to school. He has capitulated in the Labour Leaks/Panorama case by paying out members money in compensation. He has failed to protect his female black mp's He has purged the shadow cabinet of socialists, declared himself a zionist and now another 6 of his cabinet have joined LFI which makes me wonder if it is a requirement. Yes he may win the next GE but I have no faith that he will stick to his 10 pledges.
