Sir Geoff retires from Test Match Special.

Geoffrey Boycott has announced his health has lead him to retire from cricket commentary.
Just had heart by-pass surgery and hes had a good innings(y)

A true hero of mine. I was lucky enough to shake his hand at North Marine Rd and have him tell me my batting technique was so terrible it was like that of an opening bowler. I was 16. He literally laughed out loud when i told him I was actually an opening bowler :D

Not sure whether he jumped or was pushed. I think they had already announced the line up before he said he was retiring. Obviously his age is against him and the threat of Covid. Hopefully he will grace our screen periodically and have a long retirement.(y)(y)

Sporting hero of mine growing up and have loved listening to his shall we say forthright and knowledgable views on TMS over the years.

However, stories from those who have known him over the years suggest he is a complex character, some see him as one of the most generous fellas they know...others the biggest ****!

Still a lot of dispute on that story Kuepper. Friend said she slipped on floor. Even her own sister said she made it up after. We will probably never know but if someone had hit me 20 times I would expect to be in a worse state than that. Shame on him if he did, shame on her if he didn't. There is no excuse for domestic violence.

No dispute in the French court or at Sir Geoffrey's subsequent appeal! Boycott obviously says it's the bloody French legal system at fault. I still admire him as a cricketer and pundit though.

Sir Geoff still available for consultative calls from BBC.
I thought he had that heart bypass a couple of years ago.

I remember crowding around him with a few other kids asking for his autograph at Acklam Park back in the early 80s. He was obviously fed up as he suddenly shouted "form an orderly queue or no one is getting an autograph!"

As a Yorkshire man you were either for or against Geoffrey, I was a fan, will always remember his 100th 100,fantastic achievement.
Sporting hero of mine

No Yorkshireman has scored more runs for England.
A undoubtedly great cricketer and an excellent broadcaster.
And still people peddle the rubbish...
