Singapore

Asian Civilisations museum. Very interesting, they have free guided tours and a good cafe. Something to do during the day when it's too hot.
Ah forgot about this one too. Was the first place I visited in Singapore. great little museum with a nice cafe on the side. If you're an F1 fan too outside it is the Anderson bridge. And as you look away from the river the infamous "Singapore sling" corner

The best thing to do is get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some of the amazing nature.

Walk around Macritchie Reservoir which will take 2-3 hours depending on your pace. I would always get there at the crack of dawn before the hordes arrive and the creatures scurry away. At times during the walk you will be away from the water and feel like you are in a dense jungle.

A few miles off the coast of Singapore you will find St Johns Island and Kusu Island which are stunning beyond belief, barely nothing there apart from one food place on Kusu but amazing beaches and some nice walks. You can find the ferry schedule here: https://islandcruise.com.sg/ferry-schedule/

Another place to take a ferry is Palau Ubin where you can take a cycling trail and maybe see the wild boars that roam free but be careful of your belongings.

Sungeu Buloh Wetland Reservoir is quite a nice walk and again if you get there at the crack of dawn you might encounter a saltwater crocodile!

For food I would highly recommend heading to Lau Pa Sat at night. From 7pm until midnight there are quite a few outdoor stalls preparing Satay on barbecues. It's an amazing experience and the food is incredible. I can almost smell the smoke as I type this!

Another great place to go for food and drinks (along with a spot of unusual shopping) is Golden Mile Complex which is essentially a huge Thai shopping place with bars and hawkers. Great food and good price drinks.

Also, don't be afraid to go to one of the housing blocks as most have a food court at ground level selling beers too at a very reasonable price. We used to frequently head to Block 468 on North Bridge Road which is a short walk over the river from Lavender MRT. Some great food to be had in there.

There are local football teams in Singapore too that generally play games at night. We adopted Albirex Niigata as our local team to support, the quality was pretty poor but was always a good night out when combined with a bite to eat and plenty of drinks.

If you're going to Little India then take a stroll down Dunlop Street where you will find some really quirky bars and restaurants. The bar which was a fave of mine when I lived there is called Olibier Rooftop Bar.

I am absolutely taken aback at the generosity of the posters on our forum. Thank you to each and every one of you for taking the time to reply and offer advice.

I am going to take a look at the finer details on the replies and then try to put something together as it sounds like I should stay for a week.

We have 5 hours in Singapore on embarkation day - leaving Singapore at 20:00 so need to be on the ship around 19:00 to avoid by BP going up

After the first week cruising we are back for two days from 08:00 arrival on day 1 to 17:00 departure on day 2 - probably back on the ship at 16:00

I have booked the Spago Lounge restaurant at Marina Bay Sands for the evening of the first of the two consecutive days. I also wanted to go to see the infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands and Singapore by night while having a cocktail.

Absolute must for Mrs Ayresome are the Gardens by the Bay - i think the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest - Perhaps on embarkation day? How long do you think we need to cover this off?

I hadn't really heard of the cable car but is sounds a good shout. Is it far from the Cruise Terminal and how long should I factor in for the trip to the top and back?

I was also thinking of using the Hop on Hop off bus to get around and if time allowed, a short river cruise. Hawker centre food is also on the agenda?

Do you think the loose agenda is realistic?

Thanks again for your help everyone, it is really appreciated.

The cable car goes right over the cruise liner terminal I think 😁

Trying to work out where your ship will dock: if it's the Singapore cruise centre then it's really good for the Sentosa cable car. If it's the marina bay cruise centre then it's PERFECT for the gardens by the bay you should be able to do both greenhouses and supertree grove before you set off. But if you HAVE to decide which one to do then it should be this order: Cloud forest by far the most spectacular, then flower dome which is more genteel but does have lovely regional zones. Supertree grove only really worth it if you have spare time to kill.
Spago lounge is a great idea for a booking just be aware you can't even buy access to the infinity pool, its strictly hotel residents only but the views from Spago are amazing. We had breakfast there when we stayed at MBS.
Given where the cruise terminals are I'd prioritise visits to MBS/Gardens by the bay, then Chinatown, then Sentosa if you have time. In that order. I put sentosa last because it's great if you have time, you can lounge on the beach and wander around, we hired bikes to travel the island, but for a few days I think you'll get a more "Singapore" experience if you do Chinatown and MBS
They are all pretty close to the docks. A couple of the hawker centres mentioned are in Chinatown (Maxwell and Lau Pa Sat) and its worth wandering to check out Parkroyal Pickering. It's jsut a 5 star hotel but it has forested all it's balconies and pool areas so it looks pretty spectacular in the middle of the city

Thanks. Just checked and it is the Singapore cruise centre

We stated over for 3 days 5 year's ago. I booked a tour guide from " indie singapore" for the 1st day. Did this as a private tour but they do group tours you can join.
Worth every penny .went all over, into temples . Markets., little India.the whole harbour area. The metro( unbelievably clean), boat rides etc.
The next day we met up with a friend who works out there and we had seen more of the city than she knew of!!!
Definitely recommend "indie Singapore."
