Clarke was Liz Truss’ proposer for the leadership election. He also was the main MP doing the media rounds on her behalf during the leadership election.

I’d say that gives him more responsibility for what happened than your average Conservative member (who admittedly all bear some level of responsibility).
 
I was part of a journo team in uni that put together a debate for the 2015 general election with Teesside candidates, and Clarke was on it. I remember thinking even then that he was a slime ball and he has the coldest hand shake I’ve ever endured.

Just watched it back on YouTube, didn’t think at the time that one day he would attempt a failed coup against his own leader.

Most parties have a left, centre and right.....the Tories have more wings than the RAF.
