Simon Clarke steps down from cabinet

Yes he clearly says at the end he will continue to support from the back benches - just resigning from govt.

Wonder why?

Usually its due to an illness or imminent scandal being exposed
Would you want to be anywhere near the front benches with the fiasco that is and is about to go on!

I'm guessing he is distancing himself from Boris Johnson. I get the feeling it's a career move more than anything else. I can't see Boris seeing the year out. Huge Brexit **** ups, huge coronavirus **** ups the whispers of personal indiscretions constantly following him. I'd be very surprised if the wheels had not already been set in motion for him to step down. Coronavirus complications and the pressures of being a new dad will be what they pump out. Rishi Sunak looks like the man to take over.

He's not exactly distancing himself from the man or his policies in that letter!

Consistently voted against equal rights for same-sex couples and anti gay - rights. Always voted with the right wing of the right wing - I expect he wont be missed - theres another 79 hiding behind Heir Johnson.
