The first few times I drove quite far into Scotland I found it bizarre that at the A1 exit for the Edinburgh bypass is just tucked away like a small service station slip road.

It only leads to a rickety bridge and small hamlets like Glasgow, Stirling and Perth, afterall.

There were also signs on the A19 years ago going north, which said Gateshead 15 and then soon after Gateshead 17. The closer you get, the further you are...

The one I can never understand is on the roundabout coming out of Ingleby towards Thornaby there is a sign directing you towards Eston which seems really random

Teesside is 19 miles just before the Peterlee turnoff heading south on the A19 then a mile later its 15

Like when you come out of Stokesley and I'm sure there's a sign for Acklam!

Is Middlesbrough the worst signposted place in Britain, you have to be practically here before you see a signpost for Middlesbrough.I know you get signposts for Teesside but Newcastle gets signs never Tyne and Wear.
