Ultimately I'd agree double figures, but history tells us we won't get that many in during pre-season.

Quite a few usually come in just before transfer deadline after the season starts. Incidentally, I'm not sure when that is this year, not sure if it's moved due to the World Cup calendar reshuffle?

Hopefully we can get most of the key positions filled in before the season starts though so players can build up that on pitch understanding.

Yeah we need a no 1 goalkeeper, a starting striker or 2 and a left wing back before the first game and the n bulk the squad up in and around that. Like you say, hopefully we do majority of our work early on but we have been fans long enough now to know it never works like that

I think its going to have to be. We've already seen Bamba, Peltier and Taylor leave, as well as the loans - Connolly, Balogun, JLS and Sporar. Add to that at least one of Lumley or Daniels, maybe both. Then there's Uche, Akpom, Hall, and loads of other fringe players like Olusanya, Robinson etc.

It's a huge summer ahead, and although it feels like we've got a decent spine, we still need 10-12 by my reckoning.

I’m excited for this rebuild. It’s finally gonna feel like a total new squad. If we give Wilder the tools he wants I’m sure he can deliver for us.

Yes that’s the thing, we do need too to gel early as possible as we could potentially bringing in a new whole spine of the team with new goalie, holding mid if Howson doesn’t stay (need a back up anyway) and new forwards.

Will be interesting to see if Tav or Fry leaves. I want Tav to stay but we need to sell if he won’t sign new deal

With that many signings, 4 or 5 will be on loan, meaning a few will likely be last minute when prem teams finalise their squads.

Injured for most of his time at Ipswich, got red carded in the first half near the start of his time at Peterborough and was then bombed out of the squad and sent back here in April.

So, not well.

I think he'll be sold for cheap this summer.

Anyone know how Coulson has done?

Think he will probably end up in league 1 or Scotland. Hopefully we can get a small fee for him and he can be moved on permanetly. Was a time when Coulson and Spence were neck and neck in terms of ability and potential etc, now one of them will be sold for between 15 and 20 million and the other we will be lucky to get 250K for. Football, its mental.

Yeah he probably will be, that fee and the Spence fee added together with the other small fees and saving on wages we should have a decent little kitty this summer if we are sensible we could and should have a good window

5/6 starters and probably the same amount again in squad players/freebie cheap options to fill the squad in the peltire/taylor ilk.

Hopefully reduce that number a little if a few u23 players like Hemming/Boyd-Munce/Robinson do a Jones and impress pre season to show they can be a viable squad options

I can see him staying. A few people have compared it to the friend situation, but I think its very different.

Howson can absolutely contribute in a promotion drive next season and I think our contract offer will reflect that. He might get offered an extra year or an extra few quid elsewhere but i think Howson would prefer to have a right good go under wilder playing front foot football and hopefully a promo push.

The offer to friend probably reflected the fact he would have been a squad player at best with his best days well behind him.

I imagine we will want to get a keeper and striker in as soon as possible, and I imagine we will be using a decent chunk of the Spence sale money on the striker

We have only got about 4 defenders and 2 strikers, and we want to get rid of both keepers- so lots of incomings expected just to get a bare minimum squad together. I think it's going to be an interesting summer in terms of new signings. Plus we are all waiting to see how much we get for Spence and whether Tavernier stays.

I just don't see how we sell Tav for enough money to even cover him with a like for like - we will be taking a massive risk eg we get about 1 in 5 signings (or worse) correct . Whoever we sign for whatever money we get for Tav will cost us a lot more in wages than Tav is at the moment.

Stick with Tav, as I believe we will miss him if he goes.

Yeah that’s a fair point, Howson will start if he stays so good point. He won’t be interested on been a squad player
