Watmore did well last night, if he's still fit in January it will be extended, no doubt about that. Didn't miss Assombalonga or Akpom last night.
Yes he seemed up for it from kick off, started the game, done the business & makes way for NW to suck up the pressure to see the game out, it worked
Watmore can he do?
High praise indeedHe reminds me of John Hendrie
NW loves him, he said last night that no other player at the club could have scored that goal (2nd) last nightI don't see Akpom being much more than a 5-10 goal a season man. That said he is playing in a role that's definitely not his 'skillset'. I would say the same about Britt. You'd have to be blind not to see the graft he put in last night.
I fully imagine we already have / had a contract extension drawn up for Watmore. I would think it was probably part of his short term deal that if you impress or play a certain percentage you'll trigger a better deal.
He's clearly impressed Warnock. He sounds like a good lad around the training pitch and puts in a shift. I guess the only issue is probably keeping an eye on his old injuries. You wouldn't wonna jump the gun and give a pay rise and contact until July and he breaks down over Xmas.
I imagine he's probably just about done enough to get an extension. It's just a case of keeping fit before we commit.
He's different to anything we have. If Morsy had stuck that chance away he'd be sat on 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 appearances
Tav might have done, McNair might have done, but I think he was having a go at the so called goal scorers we have.NW loves him, he said last night that no other player at the club could have scored that goal (2nd) last night
Akpom's contribution to both Boro goals without touching the ballAkpom played a part in the move and e scored 2 goals.
Chuba can bring others into play as well.
Yes it can be exciting. Having or making space for the shot is a hardly mentioned yet huge factor in scoring goals!I find it quite exciting to see someone at last taking on a back line and having a shot and not be trying to offload it sideways or backwards.
