Should the tories worry

This week could see a rainbow, progressive coalition – made up of Liberal Democrats, Labour and the Greens – put the Conservatives into opposition for the first time in the county’s history.

But that shows how far of the others the tories are that it takes not 2 but 3 parties to oust them. So it’s not sustainable at a general election and it’s actually quite depressing.
It Says more about labours decline to me.

Agreed but it was unthinkable the tories could lose control of that council with or without a alliance.
Maybe moderate tories find johnson as repulsed the rest of us.
I think there's a glimer of light. Close inspection of last week's results don't paint such a bad picture as we might think.
11 out of 13 areas selected a labour mayor over any other party.
Time will tell
 
I can’t imagine Johnson funnelling money to the north and possibly Scotland will be going down well in the south.

They already think that all other parts of the country are a waste of time and that they subsidise everybody.

I still say the Tories hold on power is very fragile and Covid affected just now but the day of reckoning on Brexit and the lockdown is coming.
 
The Tories are at their zenith. The only way is down.

It takes a while for austerity measures to impact, it takes a while for Brexit to drip through and they have been insulated with a global lockdown, everyone in it together, vaccine rollout, society opening up bounce.

I think tees valley will stay blue, thanks to a mayor who speaks well, seems competent and will put what works ahead of ideology.

Nationally, it is all down to good opposition. Labour need to be progressive, radical and also put pragmatism before ideology. And visible.
