Sheff Wed 12 POINT PENALTY

A league appropriate salary cap would be far easier to police alongside a limit on player numbers.
It would but then you would need to deal with the parachute payment element, which would likely allow double salary for recently relegated teams. Otherwise the prem would stop auto promotion. The advantages to those relegated teams would be more so than today, as several champ clubs would be working under more restricted budgets than today

For me you cannot just have a free for all as the Qatari etc own clubs will just blow everyone else out of the water. There has to be some kind of control.

Why? We did before, apart from an occasional anomaly the richest teams who have spent the most money have been the most successful. It's just the same now, except rather than from a bigger fanbase or a local boy done good, the money is coming from unsavoury middle eastern countries and Russian oil gangsters.

The situation is exactly the same, the sums are now just abhorrent to normal working class folk, and the source of the income aren't considered to be very nice.

Clubs can only "lose " the same amount each though so its a level playing field..

Isn't that just the EFL though? The UEFA levels (not sure about PL?) are based on you spending a percentage of your turnover aren't they?

VAR, players cheating, players being encouraged to cheat by managers/ex players, gambling sponsorship, SKY, over priced kits, new kits every year, players paid to much, VAR, drinks breaks, quarters, clubs not respecting the competitions, growth of European football impinging on our leagues, big clubs hoovering up the money and not supporting the lower leagues, big clubs signing up the best players and having 6 or 7 players out on loan, TV fixture scheduling, ticket prices, drums.

A 30 second brain dump of everything I hate about modern football. Yet we keep coming back.

I forgot, clubs rebranding and changing the badge, sacrilege! Away kits changing every year to colours that have nothing to do with the tradition of the club. Teams wearing away kits when there is no clash of colours.

Cos u grew up to love the game that has been butchered by money and all that brings. Spot on on each point

Time wasting, feigning injury, going down holding your face when theres no contact
Great list Gene but you omitted unscrupulous or “bent” agents

I did say it was a 30 second brain dump :) I could fill a sheet of A4 paper on the games wrongs but we keep coming back don't we?

I feel for the fans of all clubs.
We are left on the sidelines watching corrupt owners, player cheats, big business and chamelions of all colours screwing what they can get to line their pockets - meanwhile we turn up every week, at stupid times, in the hope we might win promotion or a cup and shout about it [especially to those "big" clubs up the road].
Stuff em all.
UP THE MIGHTY BORO!!(y)

Crikey I have been critical of Steve Gibson, but are you people really saying we have a corrupt owner because he changes home and away shirts every season?
Bizarre.
No.
I agreed with somebody that we change shirts every season?
