Sheff U v Coventry

Would love Sheff U to win, and I think we need them too.

Months ago, I was in the camp of 'forget Cov', they were miles ahead and looking like running away with it. Now that we're having a little wobble, have others on our ****, we need to keep Cov as close as possible. We need there to be 2 automatic spots up for grabs.

Coventry win for me.

Quite a lot of disrespect for them on this board at times but they are a good team and deserve to be where they are in the table. I think people thought they would just roll over and die after we caught them.

It will be a tough game though.

Sadly got to pay attention to the Millwall result still too.

Shows a lot can change in 8 days of football.

I don't think many would have thought everyone would be so nervous about our position before the Coventry game, with two games against relegation candidates at home to follow.

I think coventry will win this. But we should forget about them, concentrate on winning our own games now as obviously second is good enough. If Coventry head off into the distance then so be it, if we overtake them, so be it. The main goal is the same, promotion.

I disagree, id rather pull Coventry into a battle with us and anyone else below us. Keeping both 1st and second up for grabs rather than just 2nd.

That said, Kalvin Phillips will be a miss. I think Coventry will win this.

Draw will do as Sheff U could be a threat if they got to the play-offs.

Sheffield United win and they're probably 13th, 6 points off 6th with loads of teams ahead of them.
They're real outsiders for the play-offs.

Can't understand your thinking there.

Coventry lose and we're then within a result of 1st again, despite our own stuttering form, it would be a major boost for us.

A draw barely benefits us in comparison, it would just give us less leeway to overtake them.

We're back to relying on favours from other teams. Not where we wanted to be. We are so hit and miss which boro will turn up at Brum on Monday?

We have no game changers. You look at the bench and think well Sene and Hansen aren't going to create that moment of magic to win us 3 points.

Sarmiento is our one bright spark but didn't pull up any trees against Oxford. Strelec isn't looking like the solution either.

Consistency gets you automatic promotion we just seem to be consistantly inconsistent unfortunately and frustrating to watch. Conway is like that guy in your 5-a-side team who wants to do everything by himself he put a couple or crosses into the 6 yard box last night (and set up Mcgree's goal) but where was the no.9 to get on the end of this cross and put the ball in the net?

Agree - something in this.
I want Sheff Utd to win, gives us a better chance of finishing ahead of Cov, but Cov are going to win the league regardless I think, they have too much firepower and can play different styles if they need to.

Sheff Utd would need to make up about 10 points in 13 games (12 if they lose V Cov), and there's 7 other teams ahead of them outside of the play offs. Teams like Southampton and Birmingham about 5 points ahead of them too, who are both in decent form.

Wrexham average ~1.6 points per game, in 6th, so if they keep that up then Sheff Utd would need to Av 2.35 points per game to get above them, which is much better than "league wining form", Cov aren't even on 2 points per game.

TBH I kind of want Hull, Wrexham and Millwall to keep getting decent results now too, keep Southampton and some of the others out of it. If we can't finish above those three then that's our own fault/ problem, but we will finish above those three. Ideally I want Milwall 6th.

Our fight is with Ipswich I think, they're the only real team I'm worried about at the minute and if we don't finish above them I think we're going to end up playing 6th place.

All Yorkshire Play-off final then Andy? .. Ipswich just seem to have more attacking options than us but did conceed 5 at the weekend. I've not watched the highlights/goals yet

Is the January window going to bite us in the bum again. Would Castledine have made any difference the last 3 games to unlock tight defences?

Hellberg clearly doesn't fancy Sene or Hansen to change a game

We’re not relying on favours from other teams. Auto promotion is still very much in our hands.
