Setting your kids up for a lifetime of disappointment

I'm trying to make sure my kids understand the full implications of supporting Boro, and that there's a much bigger picture than following a team that "wins things".

So far, so good. My son is 9 and I'm trying to explain to him defeats are part of football, they happen, there is nothing WE can do to influence the result. It's a big long ride, full of bumps along the way. He seems to get it. Good job as following Boro with Stockport County as his second team he's going to have to quickly get used to it......😬

He has a "mate" who is Man City's biggest fan 🙄. Actually cries and tantrums when they get beat, as plastic as Barbie's t*ts. No family ties to the club, just supports them because of their success. Can't take them seriously tbh.

Disappointing yesterday, definitely. End of the world, definitely not. We've all had years of suffering and letdowns, to me yesterday didn't even register past a "hmmmmm....bollox that".

In fairness does he not have a certain claim to City if he lives in Greater Manchester?

My biggest lad is 6 and sometimes he threatens to support City if he can’t get what he wants. 🙈🤣

Put it this way, know for a fact his dad was wearing a Man U top 10-12 years ago now a City fan ........🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

My daughter went through a wobble in High School asking me to take her to a City game (wife's family all big City fans) but I flatly refused. She had two choices - Boro and/or County. End of.

Thankfully she saw sense and she's out of the other side intact👍

Stay strong, good parenting will prevail👍😁

I only bring my lad to selected games. He’s 6 and thinks supporting the boro is seeing them batter teams. He somehow hasn’t seen them lose or even draw yet (he loves going to the match but isn’t that bothered about tv games). All his mates have tedious family links to Manchester and London so obviously are all man city or arsenal fans.
