Seriously, is there anything better on tv at the mo than Mortimer and Whitehouse gone fishing

I stood next to him and his son at Yeovil a few years ago last game of the season. He was amazed by the number of supporters for a nothing game.

Another great away trip organised by John.

It’s an absolutely perfect show, beautifully filmed, heart warming and funny. Bob and Paul are such engaging personalities. I’ve never fished but that doesn’t matter, it’s a show about friendship and growing old. I hope they make more series.

You must have been to the left of them, I stood with Bob on my left, his son to the left of him.
I hated being sycophantic but I had to say "love your work mate".

That day ended up very messy, and a sunburned forehead!!

It's brilliant.

I only started watching it a few weeks back but it's so easy to watch and yet so brilliant at the same time.

Snap, and a bad head. I was just behind them to the left. It was good how everyone left him alone. His son with his Bandana.

Just watched the episode on the Test. My favourite of all the seasons. Spending my days fly fishing the test on a warm spring day for those wild browns, followed by an evening on the banks with food and wine would be high amongst my perfect days.

I fished Dever Springs/Avington years ago and was struck how clear the water was.

I always remember being a kid with trout fisherman magazine and reading about the legendary mayfly hatches and having a fly box full of mayfly patterns but we never really got the hatches up north that they have down there.

I fished the Test last year, I’m not a fluff chucker (yet) but myself and my mate booked the coarse stretch in Romsey for the day. We caught loads of Trout, Chub and I caught my first ever Grayling which is a species I’ve wanted to catch for a while. My mate had a 2lb Roach on the stick float.

Two blokes done well and enjoying the fruits of there knowledge in life gained on the slog upwards to success. Just nice to watch and listen , Brilliant TV

Agree Bob is an absolute legend, a national treasure. Their friendship is clear for all to see. If there was one famous Boro fan I could meet and have a couple of drinks with it would be Bob, not to chat showbiz, just to chat Boro. I have never met him but whenever I see him on tv, it is like I know him personally.

I feel sure he was maybe behind the Dennis and Polly characters on the old board, those postings I miss.

Stood on the same barrier as him and his sons at a night match at Burton a few years ago. Had a few questions I would have loved to ask him but thought I should respect his privacy and let him enjoy game. Think we won 1-0 in 2018.

Genuinely had a dream I was fly fishing with them both on a river in France last night. Was disappointed when I woke up, but should have realised it was a dream when Bob hooked a trout and actually played it like an angler would. Other than that I remember Bob serving me and Paul pasties, me landing double figure sea trout, Bob a 3lb brown and Paul hooking some monster he said was 40lb but lost and me being very disappointed that I had to fly on a plane to fish with them.

There is something unique about the program. I have no interest in fishing but I absolutely love this program. Pacing and message are just so perfect. It also deals with some very profound issues that men are guilty of ignoring health and mental health in particular talking about mortality and the importance of living life as best you can.

Mind, The Boys is an absolute pleasure too (in an entirely different way - laser babies, prehensile penises and exploding heads!)

Got the book and audio book. Series is just too short 😔 mind hes ran out of heart healthy food n just cooks heart attack food as it went on lol. Lovely barbel sunday could see the joy still whitehouse got catching it. N bob and his chubb. Great finish to the series.

Never fished in my life but this is sublime. Feels very Coogan/Brydon from the Trip series. Sure that must have inspired it.

I never realised until recently that Bob wrote the Swiss Toni sketches in the Fast Show.

I stood next to him at the bar in the Star and Garter down Southfield Rd in the mid 90s. Was completely star struck 😂
