Serious question re sailing/boating

Can you just buy a boat sail down the coast, across to France and down to Spain etc.

Obviously I guess you would need passports with you etc. However are there any actual rules?

I've pretty well done that when I went on a rather "interesting" sailing trip from Whitby to Amsterdam

I did my day skipper course and after that was part of a crew that sailed from hamble to.cherbourg /channel Islands a few times. Obviously the others were far better sailors than me. Amazing experience and yes we just sailed over and requested a mooring then showed passports.

Excellent cheers. I just am thinking of having some time away from all these lockdowns. Love boats fishing snorkelling etc. I looked at some of the courses as mentioned above so maybe start planning a few months on the med.

I would start with the RYA day skipper course or another basic sailing course . They are really well done. I always wanted to sail between Middlesbrough and Whitby- would have loved to have done that.

Another vote for the RYA day skipper course , come down to the canaries to do it, plenty of wind, sun and proper sea, the Atlantic not the Med.

Iv just spent 3 weeks in lanzarote and tenerife as well could of done it then

Only problem is a lot of the time you’re expected to remain on the boat with the rest of te crew overnight, so a bit antisocial if you’re on holiday with the family.
