Seen the news last night & Pickfords outrageous tackle

If you make it the managers call you will have how many people watch monitors to give him the nob to challenge something. If you make it on field call the players will just be looking for a signal off someone. The Aussies/Steve Smith got caught doing the same thing in cricket.

What do they have in cricket?

15 seconds to challenge? I think your objection depends on the management team seeing the replay from the best angle in 15 seconds, being sufficiently convinced to act, getting word to the manager, and getting word to the 4th official in that time.

However, if just get rid is your preference, I won't object to that either.

Was the Pickford challenge actually cheating? I would say it was onfield thuggery.

Nothing to do with cheating I agree. It has everything to do with an outrageously dangerous challenge and at least two inept officials.

They have today admitted that they only checked for offside and didn't even look at the foul. How the feck can you miss it😂

I'll be stunned if he doesn't get a retrospective ban. Its one of the worst takles I've seen in years. Also VVD could be out for the season.

Keepers are often wiped out, or nutted at the back of the head, one gives out and theres hell on. It was a derby, things happen.

They can't give the foul/card after the offside.

Liverpool may have profited from VAR decisions last season but on a case by case basis, how could anyone, on the strength of yesterday's evidence, not award a goal? It was impossible to call, but meanwhile a lot of football fans were robbed of a pretty passage of play. A perfectly good goal has been wiped from our memories and the record books.

The reason why VAR does not refer back to the ref is because it happened after the first infringement and therefore VAR stops at that. Ridiculous as it is, it is the rules. The ref had a decent view by the looks of it, so I can’t understand him. Depending on his report and what it states will depend on whether they can retrospectively punish Pickford. There might be some editing of his report mind.

Van Djik could be out for the season, in which case I do not blame Liverpool on this occasion requesting the PL do something. On this occasion Liverpool were badly done to. As for the offside, it was a joke, they were level, the technology should not be to the degree of mm, especially when it is not 100% accurate anyway. If they are going to do it, it should not be because of a fricking finger. Personally I would like VAR scrapped, or used similar to cricket where only the on field Captains can request a review and have say one review per half.

If Van Djik is out for a long while because of Pickford, then they have everŷ right to want Pickford properly punished. I hope he gets a bigger ban than 3 games for it too.

We certainly were robbed. Howson was on side.

Yes we were robbed too. Me and my son have gone through that highlight bit by bit and there is no way he was offside in that passage of play after the ball comes back off the defender. At least one Reading player has his boot in the dark green strip of turf, but no Boro player has.

I've always felt as though Pickford has a screw loose to be honest. I remember him being the same at the World Cup, diving in recklessly at times and endangering his opponent. The pundits praised him for it at the time and said that it's good that he has that edge about him but I always just saw it as thuggish behaviour, and something he'd need to stamp out of his game.

Thats completely false. They couldn’t give a penalty but any player assaulting another at any time during the match should face punishment whether the ball is live or dead. A player can even be sent off after the final whistle.

Yes for violent conduct, not serious foul play. So completely true, actually.

They can't give a penalty, but they can punish the player.

If player A punched player B when the ball is out of play, he'd still be sent off, wouldn't he?
It's not as if everything is ok because the ball is out of play.

But he didn't punch him, did he?

If he did that would fall under the category of violent conduct and can be sent off after an offside.
