Seems some fans are turning on Warnock

As we know Warnock is most likely leaving at the end of next season, I hope the club has a list of potential managers that can utilise the kind of players we are going to have. Although I don’t think Gibson likes taking managers under contract does he? That will always limit us.

So no moving to a manager that needs to overhaul the squad (yet again) as half the players don’t fit the new style, or having to play players that aren’t suited - Mowbray had this problem. Pulis got rid of good players we’d love to have now, only to leave himself. We will need someone who can come in and use what we have with no instant revolutions in style or staff, even if a longer term aim might be to evolve the way we play.

No sorry, he doesn't. The squad wasn't that thin. We had injuries but with his full squad we were just ticking along, when he strengthened we went downhill.

We have enough in the team for him to keep us up but his signings need to better than those he's so far made.
When you take out the injures and the donkeys there wasn’t enough left for a playoff challenge. We maybe could have got more in January but there’s never much quality available then.

If we‘re not in or around the top six in October, different story but I expect we will be.

He has suggested he may fancy a role where he is not the manager , more of an advisor .
Maybe now is the time for him to go into that role if there is someone available to come in now .
JF Hasselbaink has done a good job at Burton and has served his time . Assisted by Dino Maamria they took over in January with Burton bottom of the league , and have turned them around and now sit 16th and safe . Out of contract now I believe so no compensation?
Karl Robinson and Neil Critchley also have done well at Oxford and Blackpool .
Huge job on for Warnock , we need 10 new players , maybe he would welcome another man to come in and share the work in hand
Warnock will have my backing if it stay as it is , only Steve Gibson and NW will know the plan for the future , I would hope they are considering who takes the reigns after NW now , we don’t want another summer of turmoil and change next year .
Attracting players will be hard , knowing NW will leave in a year . In SG we trust .

If t h e new manager is Blackwell and jepson

Why worry

I think their is more than a fair chance of Blackwell taking over the reins in 2022/23. Warnock has eluded to the possibility of staying on in some advisory capacity if wanted. Blackwell has experience and it would provide continuity IF further progress were made this coming season. Fans returning will hopefully see the game played at a faster, more combative pace too and the atmosphere will likely act as a catalyst for improvement.

Whatever peoples thoughts, it will be the most interesting window in more ways than one for a good few years, we need to keep the faith.

I like Warnock, to get to his age and retain the boundless enthusiasm for the game is truly inspiring. However, the magnitude of the rebuilding necessary has probably shocked him.
From looking at 2 or 3 players to come in this figure has risen dramatically to 9 or 10. That is both worrying and challenging. Our lack of ability to sign a striker of any decent standard is there to be seen. Potentially looking at 3.
The keeper situation, 2 brought in and neither inspires confidence- so we are on the lookout for 1 possibly 2.

Our transfer dealings do little to suppress the feelings of doubt - this is a concern.

Ijust think it will be a monumental ask to bring in the numbers mentioned. Another area of concern is we appear to be shifting focus as to where to get the players. It was Championship proven players - now wage demands could scupper this strategy. To the point we are allegedly looking at the Danish and Belgian leagues for free transfers.

It just appears to be very muddled thinking presently.

Would you be disappointed to see him change his mind and leave? Or would you secretly think it could be the right time. I like him and he’s done a good job overall here but I’m apprehensive about another season under him. It’s a tough one for me.
IT's fallen apart the second half of the season, really underperformed. Should have given more time to the kids in the last games, and his constant bigging up of some of our worst performers in recent weeks (McNair and Howson) absolutely baffles me.

We also need to start recruiting for a specific culture and philosophy and I don't think it should be Warnocks style, ,that will turn fans off eventually. We need to be recruiting more technical players and they won't come and play for Warnock

Last season he kept us up when we were going down. This season we flirted with the play offs and finished 10th. It's progress, so next season the playoffs should be our aim and if we don't achieve it Warnock has failed.

Yep I agree Blackwell will take over if things go to plan...

stick or twist???

For me it's STICK! What's the alternative honestly? Without a big cashpot to invest we probably have the best, most experienced manager

I like Neil Warnock a lot but Chris Wilder would be a perfect fit.

I would stick with Neil.

I hope we don’t ever go down the appoint a Kevin Blackwell route by appointing a number 2. It never works see Todd and Agnew.

Yeah sack that. Once Warnock leaves it will be time for a fresh start

If he had a contract longer than a year I’d say ok but if he goes out and buys a team full of “big units” to suit his style of play and we don’t go up then it’s back to square one the season after as there’s not many managers around who would want that squad.
Plenty of people seem to be listing the squad we’ll have next season with we’ll have Mowatt from Barnsley , so and so from there, him from there and no other clubs will have a say in the matter. Then there’s our better players like Fry and Tav to fit them around when there is a good chance a few of them won’t be here if the right offers come in.
The main thing I’m looking forward to is being able to meet up with my mates at away matches and seeing all the faces you recognise there also.

I’m not whinging, I’m making an observation, it’s unfortunate but those 3 are injury prone and it’s difficult to build a team around them. Isn’t that fact worth considering?
And what do you expect Warnock to do then ?
Plus, I wouldn’t say they are injury prone. Hall is injury prone and so is Ayala but to deem dikjsteel fry tav as injury prone is not true. They have had their share of injuries this season but next season they might be stronger for it....
Look at watmore who came in with an injury prone reputation
Warnock has and is doing a FANTASTIC JOB with the cards dealt to him and the whole stadium should be singing him out of the place come August when we can hopefully get back in there.
Let’s hope bauser can earn his salary and negotiate a couple of good strikers that Warnock can work his magic on....

Sorry but I just cannot let this go, how has he done a fantastic job, he has turned around a team underperforming and got them up to midtable where you could argue they should have been under woodgate if he was in any way competent.

He’s hardly set the world alight with a 10th place finish, improvement from last year certainly but really the only way was up from “village”

‘Fans’ just internet divvies into who watch more WWF than go to games.

We went into the season with the smallest squad in the Championship (19?), but we threw everything at it at the start, certainly defensively, where we had to best defensive record in the division up till the end of November. Cracks started appearing defensively as players could not keep up the same level of effort. Plus McNair and Saville seemed to play 9 frantic games for Northern Ireland. Reflecting back the early efforts were having an effect and we could not cope with say 5 players missing. Brown missed nearly all the season and Fletcher and Hall 70% then Fry, Tav, Dykesteel, Morsy. Britt and Fletch went on holiday mentally because we did not want them or offered them a big pay cut (probably right to do so - legacy of Monk days). It was also a condensed season. The season started late in September after a short Summer break, but finished close to normal time, not the best season to have a smallish squad.

We never got into the top 6, it would have needed a bit of luck on the pitch and avoiding injuries to do so.

The Championship has gone as expected - the 4 favs in the betting have all got promoted or in the playoffs (Norwich, Watford, Brentford and Bournemouth) plus ex Playoff team Swansea in the top 6. ith Barnsley the only surprise in the top 6. At the bottom the teams that were expected to struggle, struggled, with the exception of Derby.

Some players were on the beach yesterday which was disappointing, but otherwise kept trying as a team before the Wycombe game. I don't think you can include the Wycombe game and project it on to next season. There also has been a strong feeling of planning for next season since the Bournemouth defeat.

Neil Warnock has done a decent job we finished top half and were top half for 90% of the season. Even at 72, I am sure he is still learning and his knowledge from this season will help next season. I am sure he is just a little tired and needs a recharge. Again alot of wages money (Britt, Fletch, Kebano, Bettinelli - £110k/week) will be released in the Summer which hopefully give options to increase the size of the squad, certainly on the 19 we started with last season. I am confident we will progress next season if this happens.

It’s his policy so don’t expect it to change

madness in my opinion

Yes, if all the ‘best’ managers are under contract it leaves us gambling on someone out of work who may or may not be suitable, or giving someone inexperienced a shot which is an even bigger gamble. It may be noble but it’s also very limiting.
