Sedwell going....Johnson purges all Remainers

Expect a deal to be announced at the end of Sept/early Oct.

Johnson can then go into overdrive with ‘taught them a lesson, got everything I wanted, I told you I would, so......trust me’

'The pound is now an emerging-market currency in all but name, according to analysts at Bank of America, who say that Brexit has turned it into a mirror of the “small and shrinking” UK economy. '

That's what I'm thinking as well. Creating an exit strategy and hoping I can get out before it gets too bad

I expect the EU to stand their ground otherwise they’ll be weakened in the future because of giving up too much ground and could threaten the collapse of the EU.
That’s why on this occasion I believe the EU will take a no deal as a very unfortunate consequence to preserve their future
If the EU buckle I’ll be amazed because they have as more to lose than the UK long term
This happening whilst in the middle of this crisis is unprecedented
I also think if trump gets voted out in November then it will weaken Bojo because his global Britain B/S will not be a priority for Biden especially if Brexit causes problems in the N.Ireland border area.

I hope you’re right about Trump. To be fair it should weaken BJ they are cut from the same ser aggrandising cloth

Loving all the mentions you give me....👍🍺 cheers Bonny (?) lad
I’m actually fascinated with how this will end up because if the EU buckle under the pressure the Leavers will have been proven correct and I’ll be happy to say so but if it’s a no deal and the chaos that will ensue then it’s a quick demise of the tories so I’ll be even happier
mill never forgive the likes of Gove and Patel etc though, bare faced lying to get the votes they needed from a thick semi racist/xenophobic traditional labour lower working classes (my roots) voters (bit like Cooper) xenophobia but not realising it
Bless

The EU will still want to do a deal, skinny though it may be, because they are actually concerned about the impact on their businesses.

The fact that the impact of no deal on them is far less than on us doesn't mean there won't be an impact on them that they should try and avoid. As they have said all along, Brexit is lose-lose, it's just about mitigating their loss. I still think Brexiters think it's win-lose.

Don’t under estimate the EU damage from giving the UK their cake and eating it. The medium to long term damage will be a slow break up of the EU and the EU won’t risk it.....despite damage to the economy from a no deal
I could be wrong mind. If so, I’ll gladly admit it

I think it was the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern, who said in an interview in the last month, how she couldnt understand how the UK could potentially turn its back on a market of 500,000,000 people "on its doorstep".
She highlighted her country`s current trade with the UK and commented that any future trade agreements wouldnt make a dent in the UK`s previous trade with Europe.
Both Australia and New Zealand have strronger ties with China, South East Asia and South Korea.

Heres a breakdown of NZ trade as an illustration:
  1. China: US$11 billion (28.8% of New Zealand’s total exports)
  2. Australia: $5.2 billion (13.6%)
  3. United States: $3.6 billion (9.4%)
  4. Japan: $2.3 billion (6%)
  5. South Korea: $1.1 billion (2.9%)
  6. United Kingdom: $953.1 million (2.5%)
  7. Hong Kong: $810.3 million (2.1%)
  8. Taiwan: $770.2 million (2%)
  9. Malaysia: $695.7 million (1.8%)
  10. Indonesia: $685.8 million (1.8%)
  11. Singapore: $677.8 million (1.8%)
  12. Thailand: $642 million (1.7%)
  13. Philippines: $564.6 million (1.5%)
  14. Germany: $543.8 million (1.4%)
  15. Vietnam: $523.4 million (1.4%)

Oh dear 🥱 the all too predictable and lazy insult from the all knowing remainer. You voted leave so your thick/racist or a combination of both as you dare to have a different opinion to mine.

You realise this attitude is what lost the referendum in the 1st and then the mass of labour voters voting Tory at the last election.

Now if you think I am racist for voting leave I’d love you provide some evidence of that.

For your information I voted leave as I believed it would be the fall of Cameron and Osbourne if they lost. I actually didn’t give a toss which side won. What did bother was the attitude of people like you following the result and that made me a more ardent leaver

No, they won't allow anything that undermines the Single Market like that. I'm talking more about the usual comprehensive trade deal with other associated agreements. The whole 'nothing is agreed until everything is agreed' will probably be shelved so that, for example, some sort of mutual recognition of standards for airline safety to so flights can continue. There may be some sort of security co-operation. There ought to be something on the euratom fiasco, so we can manage to still treat some cancers.

It's weird how hardly any Leave voter mentions it was about immigration these days.

Mentioned the same reason anytime anyone has asked why I voted leave on here (which has been many) if you cared take any notice. It helps if you read people’s reasons instead of lazily brandishing as racist or the immigration brush. It was a factor for some, not all. As I said I didn’t care who won. If remain won which I suspected would happen I’d have got up the next day and continued with my life.

One thing I will say, away from Brexit. I don't think Johnson will get too many of his policies through parliament. He has u-turned 4 times in a couple fo months as he did not have the support for his bills and would not have got them through parliament. As far as I can remember this is unprecedented even with a small majority, never mind an 80 seat majority.

That tells me that enough tory MP's won't just follow along like sheep and it may help limit the damage he can do.

I also believe the tories will get rid of Johnson later this year or early next. He really is a disaster for the tories.

I am concerned about a no-deal brexit though. I will be OK because of my job, but I do worry for others.

You can’t argue that 17 million wanted Brexit, for many it will have been immigration (not necessarily racism), for some it will have been the desperate state of the UK, for some a rebellion against globalism, for Cooper it was to get rid of Cameron and Osborne.

Corbyn gave them the choice of a Labour Brexit, the Lib Dem’s said they would Remain but the 45% voted for a Johnson Brexit.

It is what it is, the strange Tory cult won the day, they have no excuses if it is a shambles.

Corbyn should have given us his vision of leave. Instead of caving to the remain element of the party leading to a situation trying appease both leave and remain which was ludicrous.

Labour needed to pin their colours to the mast, which should have been leave. It may not have changed the result but it would be a hell of a lot lower than a 80 seat majority.

Gave the tories an open goal which they swallowed up

Still, it’s my vote and that was the reason. Just as immigration was a big issue for some it wasn’t for all.

I also decided if you were happy with that status quo then you voted remain. If you were willing to risk that things could get worse in order to see if things get better vote to leave.

I wasn’t happy with the status quo. I thought the downfall of the government would bring around an election, it never. If it goes t*ts up then I’ll take it on the chin not gonna shy away I voted for it. If things turn out out for the better, even if it’s when my daughter is grown up I’ll see it as the right decision

Respectfully, can I ask why you don’t really apply that to the fact you voted Tory at the last election? You’ve frequently been on here defending the indefensible where this government is concerned.

Genuine question, not looking for an argument 👍

Hey WG hope you keeping well mate.

No problem with your question, will happily answer anything you post.

Have their been mistakes so far, most likely. I would wait for the enquiry and what advice was on offer at the time before I pass judgement on that. Brexit deal? Who knows again I can’t pass judgement on that either. Obviously as you would admit it’s mostly one way traffic on here. I’m not coming from an ultra right position and defending everything I just don’t like 1 sides debate. I thought Starmer dealt with the RLB situation great the other day which I posted to that effect also. Much better than Johnson and Jenrick. My vote is 6 months in.... my vote was due to brexit so as things stand I’m still happy with that. I don’t think we’d be massively better off under a labour government. Remember we would be having a referendum right now again... highly likely delayed which would have caused more uncertainty under a labour government. If labour didn’t cave I stuck with leave I vote labour. They never so for the mean time as my vote was Brexit related I will stand by that. If it turns out down the line I was wrong I’ll take that on the chin too. I put upholding the referendum result above all else. I thought that so important to British politics it was worth voting Tory..... if it wasn’t respected I thought would bf a disaster. Clearly this is way before the pandemic too
