SEASON TICKET RENEWALS

It's ultimately the same product. We can go round in circles with this but it all depends on your perspective. As a non season ticket holder it doesn't incentivise me to want to buy a season ticket.

If the club had said 'you've got a week to buy a season ticket at the same price as the bloke you'll be sat next to next season,' I'd think that's fair enough.

Didn't renew but now got until the end of March (I think) to decide if I want to go back.

Must admit I thought the break would rekindle my enthusiasm, but it hasn't.

Near on all of us who are season ticket holders will have had to pay more than a renewal when we first signed up.

Then the renewal price is an incentive to stay as a season ticket holder.

Honestly don't understand how anyone can begrudge a renewal getting a discount compared to a new supporter.

They deserve it.

Probably because we need to encourage new season ticket holders - making them pay more in year 1 is another barrier - it's not like the area is flush with cash is it?

Like I said I don't begrudge season ticket holders anything, I'm just not incentivised to purchase a season ticket from new especially when i know i won't be paying the same as the person sat next to me.

"They deserve it" line is a bit weird mind. It's not like you're being forced to buy something you're not going to get any use from.

It was the same price for all up until a certain point then they introduced this new applications 'extra charge'

Kind of agree with the price going up closer to the start of the season to reward earlybirders . I can understand people wanting to see the incomings and outgoings before they commit but alot of transfer activity now happens after the 1st ball of the season has been kicked.

All the music festivals do this too

No problem with it going up eventually. I just think they’d attract more new card holders if they gave everyone the opportunity to buy at the same rate. Renewals are rewarded with free beer and priority points, so it’s not like they’re losing out.

It's a balancing act I suppose, you need to reward loyalty, but also encourage new supporters.

If you look at other industries that require customers they front end the rewards for new customers, eg insurance, utility, TV.

My attitude would be get them in and then look to retain, if that means that you have to offer discount to newbies then so be it, but football always seems to operate in a different way mainly IMO because supporters don't want to be treated as customers.

It incentivises me as an ST holder to keep renewing, and that 's the point and the model the club went for when we last got promoted.

It worked too: gates stayed much higher following this relegation than following the previous one.

I'd be prepared to scrap the free pint as it has become divisive in recent years. It's not part of the package, it's just a nice gesture of appreciation from the club to those who stuck by it during the WGS era.

It's a tough balancing act, I acknowledge that and you're always going to upset someone invariably, but I think the club need to be more dynamic in their approach. In reality this approach has proved that it operates a net loss on season ticket holders. Ultimately you could attribute that to a number of varying factors, granted however season tickets sales have been low. I'm struggling to really identify any concerted efforts the club have made to sell to non season ticket holders.

I don't think it's a market they're too bothered about. They'd really like the old days of ST sell outs back.

I think they take more money with the model they use now: a large gap between ST and walk up prices, than they did a decade or so ago when the gap was smaller. Until lockdown, they were getting more through the gate.

Above all, the strategy depends on fans feeling confident they will be looked after if they invest in an ST, and that requires stability in the pricing structure.

How can they justify a £64 increase for 'new' supporters must be the only industry that does this and that's at early bird prices!!
Try adding a joining fee to club membership like a lot of golf clubs do/did. £64 is getting off lightly in my experience. If it's cheaper than walk in prices over the season then that is the incentive. But as someone has said we live in an area where a lot of people are going through hard times. Would be brilliant, if the club offered a discount to those who are on benefits. Lets get the crowds in again, fill those empty seat Mr Gibson. You deserve a lot of credit for propping up the club now do a little bit more it's a win/win for me.
P.S got my email today chuffed well done. UTB
