Season Ticket refunds

Surely in view of the current situation all season ticket holders should get a full refund as they aren’t getting in the ground anytime soon? Then offer season ticket sales if the situation warrants grounds reopening before the end of the season? I realise this puts clubs in an even worse financial position than before, but so are lots of others.

It isn't just that legally they are in a difficult situation offering the free streams - apparently they have to be made available to existing season ticket holders only - hence why they need to keep hold of the money of those that are still in the scheme but haven't presently got seats.
Interesting am in a round robin this morning of Championship fans - not every club is offering refunds. Cardiff City season ticket holders have been offered money off next season.
Norwich pay by direct debit
"The Club has continued to take monthly payments, although they've recently written to all season ticket holders giving them the choice, to either carry on paying until February 2021, with no payments then being taken for 2021-22, or to take a refund.

If Season ticket holders opt to leave their money with the club, and continue paying, they receive the benefit of free iFollow passes for home fixtures and midweek away fixtures, for as long as the EFL continue the arrangement."

Our opponents tomorrow - Reading - "At Reading we’ve paid a deposit to retain our seats which will be a credit against ST price when one is eventually announced. No ST’s on sale and we’re paying £10 per game for iFollow"

Norwich looks a good deal.

Man City actually didn't take any payments this year. My mate and her husband are £190/month better off between them.

What's the position with refunds for matches missed.

Could someone ask for a refund for each match missed on a match by match basis?

Tomorrow is the 3rd match we can't get in for, could we ask for refunds for the 3 games now?

No one's said anything about it as far as I know.

The refunds will be calculated on a pro rata basis as and when the fans are allowed back in the stadium, this was made perfectly clear once the 10000 tickets were allocated.

It must have been 'perfectly clear' as I'm of limited intelligence and I understand how it works ;)

Just had a quick look at the club web site and the only thing I could see referencing refunds was in relation to those who "Pledged To Renew" and were unsuccessful getting refunds at "a later date".

Didn't see anything specific relating to those of us who bought before the embargo etc but as I said I only had a quick look.

When last season re-started after the lockdown I was able to watch the remaining matches on line at no cost.

When I renewed for this season I paid £78 less as I was refunded for the four home matches held behind close doors, I assume this will happen again next season.

This season I have received a pass to watch home matches online at no cost.

If I want to watch away matches then its my choice to pay or not.

I can't really see what more the club can do, I feel like I have been treated well by the club in the circumstances and I'm willing to wait it out and I'm not going to demand a refund.

When all this Covid boll ocks is over I want the Boro to be still there to support UTB

Reading is a strange one - they didn't sell any season tickets at all - what would they have done if we had been allowed in for the start of October? Actually the EFL was hoping that third capacities might be given the green light for September - Reading would have had to sell all their tickets and work out a system at the very last minute - they may have got lucky in that respect. Now their fans are just chuffed they have made such a tremendous start. But they have to pay to watch every game home as well as away. Because the SKY/EFL deal is only season ticket holders can have a free stream. And the lawyers have been out defining what a season ticket (card) holder is.

Stoke City - Stoke City are paying full refunds. Originally they had a good scheme of offering half season tickets ( everyone could attend every other game).
Bournemouth refunding every 2 games that aren't on sky or BT.
Streams have to be paid for by all.

Nottingham Forest offer 3 options:

1. iFollow access (all home games plus 7 away) with a pro-rata refund credit towards 21/22 on your ST after the iFollow cost is deducted. The refund includes a 15% bonus (senior bracket ST holders get an additional bonus on top of the 15%). If fans are allowed back, those taking option 1 will be in a ballot to attend (assuming the number taking option 1 is greater than the capacity). There are a few other carrots in the option like a tenner off a shirt, half price hospitality upgrade in 21/22 etc - minor things but nice to have I guess.

2. Rolling refund until fans are back in at such a level that all ST holders could attend. Refunded monthly.

3. Full refund

All options come with price freezes for 21/22 and retention of renewal rights. For younger fans who are due to move to a higher price band in 21/22, they will get a price freeze in their current band in recognition of them ‘missing out’ for the season they were in a cheaper bracket. Child and Junior ST holders in option 1 also get some age specific benefits like 50% soccer schools, free name & number on replica kits etc.

That is an interesting point about younger fans - and could be a good one to take up with Boro.

Swansea offered either a) refund (paid monthly on a pro rata basis)
or b) streams for all home game + 7 away games, first dibs if partial crowds return plus discounts on next season's ST (currently 25% but likely to be increased if this extends into the new year).

Those who hadn't renewed could pay 20% deposit to reserve their seat. Those taking a refund should get first option of their seat when there's a full return.

So, lots of different schemes from clubs up and down the Championship. Obviously there were so many unknowns before the season started. Cardiff City seemed to have imposed their ideas without any discussion but Stoke were an example of a club that tried to work with supporters as much as they could to find a solution. Their half season ticket would have been a really interesting idea and one the fans seemed to be fully in agreement with but it is out of the window now of course.

Personally I think a partial refund is fair for every home game not attended due to CV19 - we do get free home games to stream. I am also aware MFC will be in a poor financial situation. Maybe this could be to totted up when some fans can return.

Any reason, Rob, why the Boro have no policy other than sending a voucher for home game viewing?

Here is another club, Sheff Wed..
,Sheffield Wednesday have offered access to i-follow for home games but deducting the £10 from season ticket account. Not said anything about refunds yet.

I would imagine that its down to admin as much as anything. Whilst it should be a press of a button to refund on a match by match basis, it then makes it 23 presses of a button, whereas a refund that's done pro rata, as and when fans are allowed back in, is only one press of the button, so to speak!....or at least that's the only reason I want to believe!

The more sinister option is that the people in charge have realised that the money makes more interest in their accounts then it does in ours and will only release it when they have no other option!

Looking through the clubs, Bournemouth are refunding every couple of games but everyone is paying £10 for every match home and away.
Is this the choice?

I've still not got anything back from last season. Sent a few emails to the club but no reply. Anyone know what I should do?
