Sean Dyche, the new Everton manager

Agree, dislike the bloke but his track record is very good.

That said, team spirit is clearly a massive element of what he does (it can't be anything to do with technical ability!) and I'm not convinced this Everton squad is up to scratch on this front.

Quite a few players who expect/want to be playing at a higher level I think,
 
It doesn't seem to be going down well on the Everton board. They are already split over him and he will be hounded out like all the other managers.

Everton fans are very much like Sunderland and live on past exploits, they need to realise that they are not a big club anymore and are hanging on to the shirt tail of the Premier League.

They’re carrying players signed by at least six different managers. They’re the new Sunderland IMO, staving off an inevitable relegation until the whole thing collapses and they fall into Division Three.

I have just read a Burnley fan giving Everton fans his view of Dyche. Apparently, last time in the Championship under Dyche they dominated the league.

I seem to remember that both us and Brighton run them close that season and they finished 4 points in front of us. We should have been out of sight in the game at their place, with Albert missing an open goal.
 
A good appointment in my book. Even if they go down they’ll have a good chance of bringing them up

I posted his masterclass video yesterday so think he’s got a tactical brain that frank lampard didn’t

But the pragmatic approach of his is pretty much a dying breed. Fans demand entertainment now, it's okay when you're winning but when you start losing fans turn alot quicker than they will with you playing 'decent' football

It’s a bit of a myth that he is of the same ilk of outdated football tactics, the likes of Pulis etc play

Let’s not forget he got a small Burnley 7th

They used to be the biggest side in Liverpool. It was only in the late 70s that Liverpool started to dominate and as said elsewhere for a period mid 80s they were a match for Liverpool. It's since the inception of the Premier League they've struggled, probably not got the overseas appeal, but with their new ground and some shrewd signings they could be a top six side again. Think going down and having a reset would be the best thing for them!

What's league position got to do with style of football?

They were dreadful to watch in every Premier League season.

The season they finished 7th was largely scraping narrow wins and draws.

It wasn't entertaining football either.
Which was the point you were replying to.

They finished 7th once, but Burnley stank the Premier League out every year under him.

Kompany has them playing attacking and entertaining football now, far more so than they had under Dyche in his last Championship season.

No it isn’t, I haven’t said his football is entertainin or insinuated it.

I was saying he has tactical nuance, he isn’t outdated and he got Burnley to 7th.

You responded to a post which said that fans won't appreciate his style of football as it's not entertaining, by saying it's a myth that he's in the same category as Pulis etc because they finished 7th.

I assumed that was you trying to counter the argument about his style of play.

Fair enough if it wasn't.

But Pulis etc were able to eke out results at smaller clubs with ***** football for years too.
It can be effective, it's just rarely entertainment.

I'll be interested to see how he does at Everton, as the finances and expectations are far different to what he had at Burnley.
Maybe the style was because of the limitations at Burnley, and he'll prove me wrong.

Actually I replied to the point that was ‘his football is a dying breed’ which I disagree with

Will be interesting so see how he gets on. I don’t think he’ll save them. I can’t see how players who are over payed and think they are better than they are will respond someone like dyche
