Scottish greens in favour of Scottish independence

Even the SNP can't be doing their sums based on Oil and Gas though, we'll all be driving electric cars in less than 20 years. Not great for generations to come if they're basing their future on O&G.

Tbf with Boris and the bent toriesin charge if independance was on the table wouldn't you go for it?
Its not like we have a choice.

No because it's nothing to do with Boris.... that's short term thinking... plus is voting for a party that only Scottish voters can vote for, then claiming they have little representation in London

Everyone knows Labour can't really get into power without Scotland, so as long as Scots keeping voting SNP then there's no hope

And 5 million people leaving a country of 50+ million is small fry for England in the grand scheme of things, it will make Brexit look like a walk in the park

Nothing to do with Boris. :D :D :D :D :D

But not in favour of oil and gas.

🤔 hmmm yes can’t see any issues with that.
If ever a country that was suited for renewable energy then that country is Scotland. They could easily export hydro electricity to England. While we in the North East are pretty well off for water, the south is struggling so there could well be a market there.
And with all the islands Scotland has, wind power is another good product they could sell.

I think every election Labour have won would still have been won without the Scottish seats?

I agree The intricacies of separating Scotland from the Uk would be mind blowing lily complex as you say it would make Brexit look like a game connect four.

there is nothing and I mean nothing that isn’t interconnected between England and Scotland from the military to the civil service... I honestly wouldn’t know where to begin.

I don't think that's entirely true, but there were times when it was.

How can Labour expect to form a government when mpoverished Northern English seats are going blue? And when Labour has no clear plan to capture Scottish votes? Labour is just slipping away from most people's political consciousness because there isn't any plan anymore, nothing you can imagine will attract voters. Labour's sole Scottish MP is a lonely man these days.

Scotland is changing quite quickly now, there's a confidence that didn't exist just a decade ago. The problem for Westminster is that they can't live with the urge for Scottish determinism, but can't live without Scotland's economy. I'm pretty sure Boris Johnson has no idea how to solve the problem, but as far as I can see Keir Starmer doesn't realise there is a problem.

I think there’s a good argument that the Rise of the SNP has been the best thing to happen to the tories. As it has all but destroyed Scottish labour.

I It seems very much like the tories are more than happy to watch scotland slowly slip away.. I bet if they do let it happen it won't be in the best interests of the scottish people.

Tbf, something being difficult to accomplish doesn't necessarily make it the wrong thing to do.

Supposing they went relatively soon, they could quickly be back in the EU and saving themselves a lot of palaver there. And if it meant they didn't have tory governments for the next 25/50/100(?!) years who knows what a difference it could make to quality of life.

Besides there are plenty of other countries that get by very well with that sort of population - e.g. the Scandis.

Back to the OP: Norway are doing OK. A country that has 100% sustainable energy but still makes money from Oil and gas reserves.

Yeah Scotland must have a similar population and as much usable land as most of the Scandi countries. Most of them do OK. The first statement is the salient point. You can't not do something useful because it may be difficult.

I wonder if the procedure for re-joining the EU would be sped up somewhat? Given they have been members for so long previously.
