Scottish Football

Celtic beaten by the mighty Livingston and Rangers held at home by Motherwell.
That would suggest that the opposite is true. In a competitive league on any given day any team can beat any other team. I'd say that the problem in Scotland has for so long been the two big teams and the rest, so that there are only eight competitive games per season, the rest just a succession of goal scoring against no hopers. It might be true that C and R are no longer as powerful as they were or that the other teams are becoming more competitive. I can't say I've watched more than half an hour of Scottish Football (a bit of an "Old Firm" game), mind that wasn't exactly great football to watch.

Nah I think the big two are getting worse and its not a case of the others catching up.
There's also been a steady decline over the years of the individual quality players. I can't think of a single scot that might get remotely close to England's bench.
Transfer business is very slow as well with very few Scots getting bought for decent sums.

billy gilmour, andy robertson, Tierney?

There was a time when you could argue the 'big two' would hack it in the Prem but now I think they'd struggle in the Championship.
Having watched Boro v Blackpool highlights (highlights is ironic in this case) the Old Firm, and others, would steamroller the Championship. Give them £150 million and they'd compete with the best in the Prem League.

Put Rangers and Celtic in the Championship and they really would "smash" the league.

I just don't see that tbh. They might hold their own but I don't see them being outstanding I don't see any really outstanding players?

Aye.

Didn't Strachen try this with us pretty much? How did that work out?

Smash the league my ****.

Think they’d definitely be up there if they were in the championship. Not sure about smashing it with their current squads, are they better than Fulham, Bournemouth etc.

The winner of the SPL gets straight into the champions league groups next season don’t they? That could have a huge impact with the money they’ll get from it.

I can’t believe that English fans can’t see this. They would strengthen their squads to suit and soon challenge for honours.

I would say after Man U and Liverpool they are the two biggest supported clubs in Britain.
