Schools could be shut for 16 weeks, including summer holidays in NI.

Exams impacted, parents not at work as they need to look after kids.

Presumably this will be in England as well, but longer impact due to differences in holiday periods.

Unbelievable.
 
Its unfortunate but while this Pandemic is amongst us it will probably be necessary to make arrangements for child care and probably not even expect elderly parents to look after the kids.

Better safe than sorry.
 
The government will try and steer away from closing schools for the above reasons and also the impact it will have on the core work force needed to fight this virus. It's been muted isolating anyone over the age of 70 and this will remove the majority of peoples child care.

I do think schools will close later next week or early the week after which will take them up to the Easter holidays. Schools will go through a deep clean during these times.
 
My partner’s school have already asked the teachers to put down the predicted grades they would argue for their students should exams not go ahead.
 
I think unis would prefer to carry on until the Spring break which is only a couple of weeks away.The break would then give them a three week cushion before exams start.
