Sarina Wiegman mens England manager

Most importantly, if the FA were to hire a woman as the mens manager, Red Roar would collapse under the sheer weight of its misogyny.

Just look at their thread about the women's match last night
Jesus good lord in heaven. No wonder we consider those guys to be bottom feeders. It was tricky to find the thread, such was the backwards, misogynistic way it started. Man it's grim we still have people like that

I thought we were distinctly second best in that.

I basically think we have been on a downward trajectory since the Euros win (which was thrilling). Lost various players through injury/retirement & I think she has really struggled to get the teams 'mojo' back as it were.
Losing Beth Mead was a massive blow, tbf

Yeah the thread title alone is bad enough

The biggest job we have isn't one we should be experimenting with. She might be great but there is no track record anywhere of it happening and it is too high profile a role to be testing it out on. If it has to be International then the U21s or a smaller nation with low expectations etc is probably a better proof of concept starting point.

I'm not a fan of foreign managers for International teams either.

Misogyny
I don’t think it is purely misogyny to question whether a successful coach in the women’s game could transfer their skills successfully to the men’s game. But I am sure it would attract some misogynistic comments.

I’m fairly apathetic about this really, it bothers me more that there are no decent English managers (seemingly in either the men’s or women’s game!).

Considering the comments on here and further afield about Christina Unkel during the Euros, this is an absolute certainty.

And she was only hired to comment on VAR decisions!

That's the key question. The issues facing a female professional in international tournaments and the task of qualifying etc will be HUGELY different to that of the male counterparts. And that's before the tactical and technical differences between male and female football.

I'm not saying she couldn't do it, she obviously is a successful manager, but for her first role in Mens football to be the England Senior Mens Job is being thrown into the deep end.

She has a nice job already. If the FA are considering her, then why not give her the men's U21 team for a couple of years and see how that pans out?
Carsley is doing a brilliant job in that role, why change it?

The Men’s and Woman’s game is completely different. To give someone the top job who hasn’t even managed in men’s football at all would just be idiotic

I like her, but it’s a terrible idea. The intensity of that job is insane already, to put a women in charge would ramp it up, turn it into a bit of a circus and wouldn’t be fair on her, or the players.

I would like to see her give it a go in the men’s game somewhere. I’d suggest coaching in the men’s game and then managing might be the right path. It’s mad that I don’t think there’s even an assistant coach anywhere in the men’s pro game

Misogyny
Whilst I agree it'd be an issue for some, it is often bandied about when managers have had amazing seasons at League 2 or whatever if they had a shot at getting a PL job, it is often said about players respecting them, he'd not be used to dealing with egos or managing and understanding lads in their twenties who are multi-millionaires etc.

All that would apply to her too?

Depends on the reason she isn’t being considered.

And most will argue their reason it isn’t misogyny ….

Women can run countries, be president of the EU and run commercial businesses employing 000s.
Therefore they can lead people with egos, money et al

But they can’t lead a men’s football team?

She has delivered at the highest level she has tried in football leading an international team to success.

If people are saying she hasn’t done it in the men’s game that’s correct.

To discount her just for that is misogyny.

What are the reasons…..

It hasn’t been done before?
She’s a woman?
The male players won’t respect her?
She’s never led men before?
