Sheff Utd owner pulled plug on potential Berge departure​

Prince Abdullah, Sheffield United owner, decided he would not entertain any bids for midfielder Sander Berge, despite interest from Fulham and Newcastle, Sky Sports can reveal.
In the end it was decided the club needed to keep its best players, whatever the cost, in order to maximise the push for promotion.
Sheffield United are currently second in the Championship.

Smells like BS to me, they've been actively trying to offload him during the window to ease their financial predicament, but Newcastle only wanted a loan, which didn't suit them.
