Salvage Hunters

I've been working on it for a year now (on and off ... thanks covid). Really great show to make. The current series (15) is two shows in ... or 3 if you have Discovery +. The Northern Ireland episode that went out on the 10th was my debut. I was amazed how many people watch it .... wherever we go, Drew and Tee are recognised.
Good show there kid. No doubt Drew is very knowledgeable and he's learned a lot over the years and built his business up. He's obviously got a bit of an ego but that's nothing new. I've been to some of the places he's visited. Antiques centre in Jesmond, a mid-century furniture place in Jarrow and various places around North Yorks.

He's changed what he buys over the years. He seemed to mainly like decorative things but now really goes for things that are design led and pieces of historical significance. Industrial stuff as well of course. Buying in person will always be much better than online. You know what you are actually getting and if you're the sole audience to something, prices will be lower.

Borolad, there's one thing I've never understood about him.

Occasionally he's somewhere and really likes something, but the owner wants just a bit too much even though Drew will say something to the camera like, 'I'd double my money on that'. I just think, you're there anyway, you'll make money on it, why not just buy it?

He's always on about paying for the fuel, paying Tee, hotel expenses etc. Surely you'd pay that bit more as it's all profit at the end of the day.

But what do I know. I'm guessing he needs to make a stance to show future dealers he won't be messed about and overpay?

If he likes it enough and he thinks it's an earner, he'll buy it. Sometimes there are other considerations .... ie the amount of chew involved. Is something going to be a pain to move, restore etc. And some days it may just be personal ... if he thinks someone is trying it on too much. In general, he'll be more generous with private owners, collectors, museums etc. Other dealers are fair game.

There an episode in series 14 where he visited a stately home, described as being just outside Darlington, where in one room there was a 95/96 Boro away shirt pinned onto the wall.
He didn't make a bid, by the way.

That's a handsome lamp. He buys a lot of lamps and light fittings. Less of the industrial stuff these days, more early 20th Century and earlier.

been in Thailand I cant get any of the iplayer web sites , ( dont have a dodgy box or want one) so happy to see them turn up on youtube , just gorged on 6 episodes from S15
