Still only 33, was one of our best defenders at one point around 18/19. Wonder if his choice to be a vegan affected his performances

the commitment and desire to remain at the top levels of any sport are probably underestimated by most people. guess he decided enough was enough. and wrapped in. all the pressures and hassle all gone now. bet he's miles happier.

I was at Stoke away during the Pulis years and chatting with a Stoke supporter who knew him well. He pretty much echoed what you've said and that he's a really nice, down to earth bloke.

He was a reasonably good player for us, but played out of position a lot.

Met him during an international break in a bar in Darlington during the Woodgate era (amongst other boro players out for a team meal and drink).
Chatted to him and Gorgeous for 10 minutes or so and he was a smashing lad. Happy to engage in conversation, articulate, jovial, clearly loved the club he was playing for and loads of praise for his manager.
Although he was miffed that they didn't have the week off.
Did a good job for us I thought, always liked him as a player and its always nice to meet your hero's (I use that word loosely!), and they don't turn out to be d!cks

He may be a nice guy but he was not a good footballer, certainly not in his time here.
