Ryan Giles

Giles gets hammered for his defending, however, its partially down to the shape of the team ahead of him. One of our strengths is Riley McGree drifting inside to link with chuba etc. Obviously this can leave giles exposed.

If we went up and signed Giles, which i think should be a priority, id like to look at a rotation left sided midfielder option that could play in front of him on occasion, who would offer more protection.
agreed; At the risk of sounding like Wilder, I think a left-sided, Premier league standard defensive central midfielder is crucial if you have McGree and Giles in the same team. Someone like Vitaly Janelt at Brentford.

He is now 23 yrs old, signed a professional contract with Wolves 5yrs ago, loaned out to 7 clubs during that period, and never kicked a ball for Wolves. i just think the championship is his level.

You may be right and only time will tell. However, I'm guessing that in all of his loans he's been played as a winger and we've converted him to a left back. That could be the difference.

Interesting this one, would be surprised if Wolves take less than £8m for him.

His defensive frailties have been rightly highlighted and will be exposed massively in the EPL. The approach works in a team with lots of the ball but swap that around and you limit his impact hugely.

That said, I doubt we'll change the system if we go up, even if that results in us getting hammered week in week out. As I've said before, becoming a yoyo club which allows long-term structured investment in the squad would be a good outcome I think. Eventually you come up with enough quality (plus a few signings) to stay up.

I think he's got two years left on his contract after this season at which point he'd be 25, so that would be reflected in any transfer fee. If we loaned him again next season he'd be in his last year.

I'd be a bit surprised if WW saw him as a potential first team regular for them, so it's princely more that case that they'll look to make money on him.

Given they've already had a loan fee from us I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign in the summer.

He's a fantastic champ left back and we'd be lucky to have him on a perm.

I've read a few on twitter saying 'we can do better'. Really? I mean how many good Left backs have we had since George? I'd love to here who's available who's 'better' in the champo.

I think his defending had massively improved. Like many he was hung out to dry by Wilders daft formation.

I think what he brings going forward out weighs any defensive issues. I mean the top wing backs in the country are regularly hammered on sky for being brilliant going forward yet can't defend. I don't think you can really have both at any level.

He seems very happy and after 2 years on loan probably needs a 'home'. A decent age and potential to improve and sell on. I actually had a feeling this may have come off in the Jan window. I guess wolves position could have been the issue.

The likes of Forss and Mcgree. We tried to sign Archer on a perm. So now possibly Giles. It's a great age group with plenty of potential. The recruitment is looking focused on a 'type'.

Although like many on here I've no idea what they will ask. 4-5mil? I can see us affording much more. Although God knows what we offered for Archer. It must have been a few quid.

Archer must be 8m minimum. Probably more likely 12-15.

I agree that Giles is a cracking championship left back but we can't underestimate the jump to EPL. He's untested at that level so potentially a bit of a gamble, albeit one I think we'd take for the right price.

Giles is a minimum of 8m in today's market with the assists he has made this season. Cant see us getting him less than that.
