On the whole, I regret the news that this was a charity effort getting out.

By the time they reached John o' Groats, the crew could have had every self-proclaimed patriot Reform-type in the Easy of the UK following them with their torches and pitchforks.

Customer numbers at 'Spoons might have suffered, but I see no other downside.
 
He has a very florid countenance, even by the standards of gammons. I suspect he may be permanently befuddled.

The rate that racism and political populism have appeared to have raised their bigoted heads is concerning.

Farage, Tice, Anderson, the horrific Pochin (who is looking to be the absolute worst of them all), and the rest of their dog whistling minions continue to press the buttons of disaffected Tories and the politically naive.

Last year's unrest could prove to be the beginning.

Farage will continue to push the boundaries until what is seen as acceptable and debatable will be abhorrent to most people - but he will energise the racist element in society so that they become part of the debate

The fact that Lowe was wrong will not mattter to those who believe what Reform/ex-Reform say
They want to believe the headlines - and the fact that it is debunked won’t be seen by them , as they have moved on to the next claim being made
 
I'm originally from Easington and I'm fooking embarrassed by this.

Suppose it just sums up the mentality of the people in the place.....and why I would never go back.

Used to be an absolute Labour fortress, how the mighty have fallen.....and do Starmer and co really give a sh*t? No.

Yes. The point is it *could have been* immigrants. Perception is all that matters.

Me too. I recently looked up on facebook some of the lads I grew up with and most are sharing 'we want are country back' sh1te. If things don't change, come the next election we could be headed for full on fascism, voted for by the so called red wall.

Very lost immigrants one imagines? A quick look at Google Maps tells me that the nearest point to Gt Yarmouth on the European continent is probably the Hook of Holland (an unlikely place to launch a dinghy I would venture) and over 100 miles as the seagull flies across "interesting" waters.

Of course this would mean that they would have to use critical facilities that have lain un-exercised for many years...

The three Labour candidates who stood in the May elections when three seats were available all stood yesterday when only one seat was available. One was the Labour candidate and the other two stood as independents thus spitting the vote. If you added all their votes up they were very close to winning the seat back.

Only Trump dying in the next 12 months can provide a platform of stability in the US that the rest of the World can use to bring reason and common sense back into debate in enough time before the next GE

Misinformation and a total lack of any scrutiny of it, have reached epidemic levels. The unwavering acceptance of being gaslight by algorithms that most are blissfully unaware of, with the inability to even contemplate their echo chamber may be wrong.

Wealth is out of control, those with it must increase it and those without it, must be made to believe, by the wealthy, that 4 people in a dinghy managing to cross one of the most treacherous seas in the world from mainland Europe to Great Yarmouth, is the reason you can't see a dentist in Middlesbrough on the NHS.

You’d hope in a general election with a bigger turnout that they’d not win. Farages party used to win loads of European mp seats in the pre brexit days but fail in the main election.

Wasn't there a poll not long ago that suggested that in a general election people would tend to vote tactically in an anyone but reform movement?

I know I would even vote tory to keep reform out if that was how my constituency was balanced, thankfully it's not.

I think it was a poll of which party leader would make the best pm.

6 comparisons were made; each party leader against each of the others as a pair.

It basically showed Lib, Lab and Con voters would back each other's leaders in preference to NFL.

So yes, Im sure terr would be tactical voting.

However, in a real election, a Tory voter might not need to choose between Labour and reform. They could still vote for the Tory candidate in a distant 3rd place. I suppose my point is that not everyone will vote tactically.

Reform get far too much positive media coverage. Farage is allowed to act as a commentator rather than a politician. He is allowed to put his dog whistle musings out there without being challenged.

The BBC allows him to turn question time into a right wing rally and the host is apparently on his side.

The greens and lib dems get very little mainstream media coverage.
