OK, I am an IT/gaming nerd, have been since early 80s and now 52. I just saw that Russell Brand has 1.4m followers on Rumble, I have never even heard of it till just now. Twitch I don't get, as you just watch people play games, I can do that by actually playing the game. TikTok for girls who want to do dance moves, not for me.

I never thought I would lose track of new technology and stuff, but I am, and at such a pace that I am starting to not be arsed by it all. Anyone else feel the same? Think I will fire up my Mame arcade machine and live in the past!

Rumble is basically a video platform for the far right and conspiracy theorist nutters isn't it, like the video equivalent of Parler.

I never get how gamers can't get twitch. It's not watching someone playing a game, you can get streams like that but they won't be very popular. It'd either watching someone very good at a game or watching someone very entertaining play a game or both, and interactive although less so on a big stream due to numbers. I've made some great gaming friends via twitch and it's interesting seeing how people play things.

They also often get content before other people.

TikTok isn't for girls doing silly dance moves, that's like saying fmttm is for pedos because smoggyrainbow posted here. It's a video platform that uses an algorithm to learn what you like. If you watch a video or comment on one or like one it will add that to your customised algorithm and essentially show you more of things that you like.

Mine is currently decorating stuff, anti-MLM, gaming, rum/cocktails and cooking stuff with daft funny ones inbetween.

Even my dad uses TikTok and he's 70 odd.

Both TikTok and twitch will have content for people that like mame.

My personal issue with a lot of creator developed content (I think that's the TikTok model) is that I don't really trust people :)

Perhaps these platforms are full of vastly qualified and experienced experts in their feed willing to share their knowledge with the rest of the world but the examples I've witnessed are fairly "lowest common denominator" and more targeted at entertaining people than imparting knowledge. Aren't they monetised as well? Which in my experience just encourages even more demented behaviour to chase recognition, and ultimately, profit.

Fair to say I'm probably not their target demographic :ROFLMAO:

I don't buy anything off TikTok although plenty of people do. It is monetised but I don't have a problem with that, you can't expect someone to create content for you for free. Lot of the decorators etc may have a sponsor for example but im not going out to spend £700 on a festool just because Coxy has one.

If you buy a book or something they're also monetised

I was staying in a house this year and the lad spent more time watching someone play games than actually play them. I guess each to their own. Saying that, I built my own 2/3 sized vpinball machine and full sized varcade machine. I think I just enjoy doing rather than watching others.

I recently started BOTW and I am enjoy it but I don't care about hidden stuff or watching someone else find hidden crap. I used mame as an example of my 80/90s gaming. I installed it, stuck games on and play. That is all I need. I guess I am saying, there is too much choice of platforms, hard to keep up

I sort of agree with them. If he is convicted fair enough. We don't stop other accused people from earning, MP's may lose the whip but don't stop taking a salary when they're accused etc.

Are companies expected to have teams that monitor people's status or is it just famous people?

There are many alternatives to You Tube.
Google would prefer you use their product of course.
