Ross Stewart

Interesting having a look at the Mackem forum there.

We all know a few decent mackems but they generally continue to be the most insular set of fans you will find with an unhealthy obsession about their ‘Big Derby Rivalry’ with their cousins from north of the Tyne and a contrived attitude towards the Boro.

No real football fan ever wants to see any player seriously injured, but that’s any player and Stewart is no more special in this regard than a youth team player who gets hurt.

I don’t think Sunderland will get anywhere near the play offs with or without Stewart, I think they are flaky.
I actually think they might just make it have a decent squad and a class manager, my worst nightmare is them knocking us out in the play offs lol

I agree about Mogga but needing to use a 15 year old suggests a serious lack of depth in the squad for a serious play off push. We all know how hard it is with a decent squad.

Having seen an achillies snap up close I wouldn't wish it on any professional sportsman. Its nasty and career threatening not to mention extremely painful

Good luck to the lad and lets hope its not that bad

The only post on this thread hoping that someone will get a serious injury is from Hotxon Mackem .
I don’t recollect any such posts after Sunday. Most people blamed the referee, not their forward who dived.
I hope that Stewart has a full recovery, that Blunderland have a few cup replays and finish mid table.

I hope the lad's career is not threatened by this and he is fit to play next season.
Anything that derails Sunderland however is fine by me.

Some of them are fuming about it on their board, except they're not because they're not bothered by us in the slightest.

Yet another mega thread on their board about not caring about Boro! That board is ridiculous by the way. Totally arrogant and full of self importance. The Mackems I know (and I know loads) are not like that.

Started off as a thread for them to complain about Boro fans celebrating Stewart's injury but seems to be developing into another 50 paged thread where they debate whether they care about us or not.

You'd think they'd wait until we were due to play them again at least.

Come on. We have our fair share too. Jones, McNair etc.

Naive defending from Fry and he took full advantage. I doubt you’d be calling out one of our strikers if they did the same.

Huge loss for them though, really good player.
Sadly, football across the world is riddled with cheats….let’s be honest with ourselves.
If they acted like rugby players and then left it to the ref we’d have a much better game….alas, te game is essentially ruined by the players

Not sure if anyone wished it on the lad but you can’t fail to acknowledge it’s a blow to a play off rival which benefits us.
We are reacting to the injury after the event. No one on the various threads prior to wished injury on him, unlike the poster who wished someone will do their acl in

I know I said something about karma, I do actually believe karma has a weird way of doing things sometimes

I do wish Stewart a quick recovery. I’ve had a torn Achilles in the past and that recovery was long so can’t imagine rupturing it

I think there's one poster taking genuine pleasure from it and a couple of tongue in cheek posts about karma (mine included, which is very obviously tongue in cheek I'd hope).

the vast majority are expressing sympathy for lad, its a horrible injury. I'm not upset Sunderland have lost a key player though.

leave the pearl clutching to the mackems.

Ah yes the good old fashioned never cheating rugger boys. From a spot of eye gouging in the scrum where the ref can't see to vials of blood smuggled into the field to help feign an injury, those thoroughly decent public school chaps could teach those soccer playing oiiks a thing or two about sportsmanship.

He'll only have six months or so left on his contract by the time he recovers and will have serious doubts about his fitness.

I wonder if they wish they'd cashed on him in this window?

Horrific injury to the lad.

I actually feel for him.

He's currently getting shafted in wages. He's by a mile Sunderland's best player and yet he's rumoured to be on less than £3k per week.

He was the main reason they won promotion and the play offs last season and his goals per minute is the best in the Championship this season of any club.

Sunderland have well and truly took the pi$$ out of him regarding value.

They're loaning Diallo who's on £40k per week (and rumoured to be paying 70% of those wages), yet their main man is on peanuts (in footballing terms).

Hopefully he makes a huge recovery, and gets that big payday move he deserves and leaves Sunderland for sweet FA,.

As for Sunderland, they've well and truly got what they deserved.
