Ross McCormack signs for Aldershot

One of those names that got linked with boro again and again.
See also Ben Watson and that WBA midfielder whose name escapes me

Every transfer window for 3 years. It made a change from Rob Hulse lol.

Hopefully he will have his electric gate fixed so he can get into training😂. You imagine him rocking up at aldershot in his 200k car. He was still getting paid 55k a week by villa until last summer.

Many top flight players can retire for life at 35. Luxury house fully bought by then. £50k a year pension from 35 to death. They can get a pension at any age with full tax advantages I believe there is a special arrangement with HMRC for them.

Many Premiership/Championship players don't have to play until 40 in non league/lower league football any longer.

We were discussing David Mills on here earlier in the week - he went from most expensive English footballer ever to Whitby Town footballer in 7 years and print salesman. (1979-1986) I could not see it happening now. I also remember seeing Ian Gibson RIP playing for Whitby in 1976. He played for the Boro in the early 1960s and mid 1960s then sold to top flight Coventry City where he played for a good while and I think he even played for Scotland. By 1976 I think he was a Redcar fisherman.

There was an ex Boro player used to run/own the Clynes Rd newsagents near where I used to live as a kid. Think his name was Ray Yoeman(I could be wrong I was quite young when he had it)

£50k per year pension? Much more than that these days. Can also rack up hundreds of thousands providing opinions on the plethora of TV and radio stations covering football these days, plus personal appearances and after dinner speaking. Of if you are Robbie Fowler, buy half of Oldham.

John Stead [now 37] is playing for newly promoted Harrogate town and before that spent 4 years at Notts County.
His legs have gone, but in and around the box hes still got what it takes.

Ross will do well for "The Shots", but he might find some of them are nowhere near the standard hes used to.
Still, he will be a good mentor for aspiring league players and the youngsters.

Good for him.
Brave move.
Expect him to enter Management at some stage.
