Rosie Duffield MP resigns from Labour Party

You are trolling,or to give you the benefit of the doubt, he had accepted less than every tory cabinet member over the last parliament. As leader of the opposition his declarations would be higher than every other declaration, because, and this is important, the record that was used by the press to report this story doesn't include ministers. You knew that right? Or are you raging against something you don't understand?

To be clear starmer had taken almost nothing when compared to Johnson, jenrick, truss and every member of the tory cabinet.
Why do people insist on bringing the Tories into this? It should apply to everyone, including Starmer. Maybe Parliament should have a hardship fund to provide clothes and glasses to those who can't afford their own.

There's clear evidence of hypocrisy from Rosie Duffield having accepted hospitality to the Open Golf in recent years.

Of course, but the whole charade of "gifts" should be stamped out. There is no place for it.
No argument from me. But it is tricky to draw the line. For example football tickets. Let's say that the newly elected MP is a ST holder at the Riverside. Obviously now they are a potential target for nutters/terrorists. So deny them the chance to see their team or give them a freebie into the Directors to be secure?

How about they pay the season ticket price and get put with the Directors?

Sh
Her campaign received funds from the Labour Party to help her retain the seat for Labour.
She did say this morning that she had to crowd fund to campaign as she didn't receive any funds but I cant remember if she said from the labour party or the unions.

This was also mentioned which I thought was strange.

In the interview with the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg, Ms Duffield was asked if she thought Sir Keir "has a problem with women".

She replied: "I'm afraid I do. I've experienced it myself."

So your issue is the way political parties are funded? Got an alternative? They have to be funded and I would assume you don't want to pay for it via taxation. So how?

On the subject of bringing the tories into it, it's relevant because of the way the story was narrated. It made it seem that starmer was taking more in donations than anyone else. That simply isn't true. That's why it's relevant.

My issue is with bribes. They're nothing more nor less than that. I would far rather they were funded through taxation.

As long as we have PR to go with it. It's called democracy. Reform would, of course, have to become a political party and not a private company.
If the democracy you hope for means me funding a far right political party then I'd prefer to maintain the current system thanks. I'm sure many others would feel the same.

So it's not just the way political parties are funded but the electoral system you want to have an overhaul before you fund it. Right.

It would be interesting to hear how parties are funded and how tax is allocated to each party not to mention what services we defund to pay for this.

So what's your solution? You won't have any detail because it has been tried in Italy and was stopped on about 2013 or so and the only other country in europe who cubs political payouts through taxation is Germany and their system of a party levy is a tiny proportion of overall funding. Countries don't do it because it doesn't work, the tax payer gets zero value for money, zero service for their money and absolutely no return for their money.

It's a mad idea.

So that leaves donation funding as the only alternative.

I'm pleased you're happy with corruption in politics, which is what this thread was about. Bribes to individuals.

Membership fees and strictly limited small donations. If this reduces funding then parties need to cut their cloth accordingly.

The thread is about Rosie Duffield resigning from the Labour Party and opportunistically using a topical stick to beat Keir Starmer with.

She's so transparent it would be difficult for an idiot not to realise this.
