Robbo on our 3pts article today

Don't it still hurts - I was only about 7  :cry: and didn't really understand why we were getting punished for people being ill

What could have been.........

We were treated the way we were because we have moved above our station. We were spending like the big boys and they disliked it. Everytime there was an article about us it would include the words £42k/week Ravenelli. When people write about MU they don't write £200k/week players or its about Marcus Rashford promoting free school meals.

The alleged list of players we were looking to bring in was mouthwatering! Can’t remember them but recall at the time if we had brought some of them in we were in a great position to kick on.

Why didn't we just make a similar set of transfers when we went up the following year? We ended up buying Madison and Dean gordon. All this Roberto Carlos, batistuta, Cafu stuff is nonsense.

Romario def isn’t nonsense. Look at when he moved to flamengo on loan..,

Sadly by then we had missed our big chance due to everybody feeling the need to be more cautious. Banks and institutions had been queuing up to finance us as the 'new' boys taking the football World by storm. Sadly that feeling evaporated with the relegation and we were no longer a big news story in world football. Madison was bought in the championship.

You're right we bought Brian Deane cooper and pallister. Rather than Cafu Roberto Carlos and batitusta. :D

I just don't buy the fact that people were spooked out of loaning us money by us being relegated, but would not have been spooked by us escaping relegation by the skin of our teeth, or by our form since buying juninho which had been mediocre at best.

Don't forget Nadal, the final piece in the jigsaw

Oh boy did the FA and Kelly get some stick from us boys at the FA Cup final.
3 points,3 points, 3 points
Yes, and apparently we scared the more timid members of the FA and crowd who 'thought' we might be chanting "Ziek Heil" along with the Hitler-esque salute! And the energetic booing of the FA officials as they did the pre-match shaking of hands. Hardly recompense for the situation but a small demonstration of our disgust.

I don’t know what the true picture was, but for a bit of balance, players like Mustoe have come out and said maybe things weren’t quite as bad as has been suggested and we could have put a team out.

Whatever the truth and any blame on boro, the worst part for me it’s the absolute amateur and shoddy running of the PL that no one with authority could be reached and some jobsworth farted a bit of hope our way. A multi-million pound organisation with responsibilities to its members but all the gravy-boaters out of contact or on a golf course, farcical.
