Robbie Mustoe. Every goal

What a player he was for us. Must be one of our best buys. All the super stars came and went but Mustoe was the first name on the team sheet.
Always remember him as an all action tough tackling midfielder with an excellent touch.
Some great goals as well.

I’ll never forget that semi against Arsenal at OT , he covered every blade of grass that day .

Often operated quietly in the background with all the big front page names we had , but ably got on with being a dependable , gifted footy hero in my eyes .

Carving out a cracking career behind the mic these days . Defo shake his hand if I see him .

Edit . Just read my post after posting and instead of saying cracking , the auto spell said carjacking!! Sorry Robbie 😆

Awesome signing by Colin Todd, I remember when we signed him & phoning Boro line to get the update on him

He made his debut at home to West ham along with John Hendrie & John Wark

Thanks for posting 👍

Him and Jimmy Phillips joined in a £450k deal, if I remember correctly, started off as a box to box midfielder and developed into a very effective defensive midfielder who won it and played it simple, his work rate and reading of the game meant he was vital to our style of play.

No sorry, Jimmy Phillips signed later in the season, along with Ian Baird, JP made his debut in a 3-0 home defeat to Blackburn & unfortunately cup tied for our ZDS final v Chelsea so had to sit in the stands with Ian Baird

Thanks for that! The Derby away goal at the end was one of my most memorable away goals. Not sure why apart from it was an important 3 points.

Why did the commentator say on goal 8 "Robbie Mustoe, scores on his debut" after he netted against Millwall?

You see how much football and the Boro changed so much over the course of his career.

Must have been interesting times he saw.

Great servant and a cracking player.

Loved him and Higgy.
