Roadmap

Boris has just announced he will be letting us know what the roadmap looks like with regards to reopening schools and business. He'll be going through this with us next week apparently.

About time this government started treating it's citizens like adults.

I think a roadmap for Spain is perhaps going to be easier. At we have 17 autonomous regions that split into 50 provinces.

So having an overall road map with various phases here is OK. Each province will look to complete their steps through the road map at their own pace. Checking infections and deaths as they go along. With management via the governments for the autonomous regions.

One of the steps involves only allowing travel within a province at a certain stage in the road map. To try to stop cross infection between provinces. That will be policed strictly here I guess. I think something similar might be more difficult to do in the UK.

Hugely challenging isn’t it.
4000 new cases today - and we’ve been in lockdown for 5 weeks. How does that happen?
Logic says - relax lockdown and new cases increase.

As for masks, my understanding is each individual will need 2/3 per day. That’s an awful lot of masks when the NHS apparently can’t get enough.

I had to go out in the car today and was surprised how much traffic was on the road. People are letting their guards down too soon.

Its a fine line isn’t it - people are ‘being allowed’ to let their guards down.
The French, Italians and Spanish weren’t given a choice. But, probably covering old ground with that.

We need to see what happens in Germany.
We need our scientists to stop fannying about and say everyone has to wear a facemask. You don't need 2 or 3 a day. It's just a covering to stop you from infecting other people. Wear a scarf over your face.
We need to have a proper contact tracing network set up. Properly trained.
We need temperature checks on everyone getting on public transport. Everyone going into a public building. We need thermal imaging equipment in all major cities.
We need a public information campaign saying if you are ill and leave the house you will be prosecuted. We need laws to support this.
We need everyone to download a contact tracing app, and to not be allowed on public transport without it.
We need the level of infections down to a manageable level to implement all this.

We aren't going into this blind. We have china and Korea. We also have Spain and Italy a couple of weeks ahead of us. And in Germany an example of a nation mitigating the effects more sucessfully. We can't do exactly what they do, but we can adapt it to our situation.
It needs to be done properly, otherwise they should have just let loads of people die, and not taken as much of a hit on the economy.
