Problem with England is there are too many wilfully ignorant people like Mad Ken and Trotsky - they get their dose of daily outrage from The Sun, Daily Mail or Express

While the current extreme right-wing Libertarians in control of the Tory party dismantle the state and most public services and prepare to sell-off the NHS, the uneducated are obsessing about "emigrants" and dinghies in the Channel. The biggest threat to the UK working class is this government and it's backers, not poor people from war torn failed states

Views like that would probably not be tolerated in many companies, I'm surprised the daft get keeps a job down. Wouldn't want a clown like that working for me.

Lived and worked in Hastings, quite an odd place. An end of the line town with little Further Education, so all the bright kids leave, and don't get replaced! When I saw this story I could visualise members of staff who used to work for me having no problem with it all, if not joining in!

MAny moons ago, I sailed on a ship that had a First Mate from Hastings, he was so far up his own ar$e it was unreal.

The Daily Sport (or some other equally terrible rag) ran a front page story about the level of prostitution in Hastings, and the Headline was "BJ for £10.66"

One of the deck hands had it made into a poster and put it up in the mess.

The news from today is disgusting and reflects badly on anyone who thinks desperate people should not be allowed to build a life in Britain.

Bear this in mind. The vast majority of people arriving in boats are from:

Iran
Iraq
Syria
Sudan

All countries that have either been torn apart by war, or are effectively a totalitarian regime.

We dont get to wage wars in the desert for 30 years, destroying the place, and leaving it to rack and ruin, without having the responsibility to pick up the pieces.

Would be a huge red flag for me and I`d be opening a massive can of worms that included the directors if that situation happened to me

Also have had work colleagues/friends and family in the past use the type of language that is now referred to as casual racism that I have been quick to challenge and insisted that they do not use that type of language when I am in ear shot

I hope you can challenge what happened without any detrimental affect on yourself

I work in a place that appears professional on the surface, but some of the views expressed around the coffee machine chats are horrific.

No to be honest the issue lies equally at those who would receive any complaints. I'm biding my time to be honest as i may get an opportunity to influence the company culture after an upcoming departure.

Sad deflection. If you don't think blocking the RNLI from rescuing people purely because they are from abroad is a racist act, then I suggest you need to have a word with yourself. It's about as racist as you can get.

Harry - I clearly said (twice) that it was an abhorrent act but that it probably wasn't a racist act. I made a mistake and revived the thread that was almost off P1 - so not really deflecting any attention, in fact highlighting the racist problem that exists in our country today. I came across the story and video and posted it on the most appropriate thread available.

I have words with myself everyday but I'm quite sure that I am no racist if that was what you were inferring.

I wasn't inferring anything. You said that blocking the emergency services from rescuing people from drowning purely on the basis they are foreign isn't racist. I beg to differ.
