RNLI blocked

Yeah I get that posting a load of pictures is Roofie's thing, but perhaps removing it would be in the best interests of all posting on here.
Agreed. A few posters have been quite open about their mental health struggles and I'm sure plenty more will be struggling but keeping it to themselves.

Either way not sure that pic is a good idea despite the powerful point it makes.

A truly awful story but a sign of the times. Whether we like it or not, immigration is a major issue and will decide the next GE. the tories have been awful

From the same report, and highlights that the vast majority of people in Hastings are good.
"On Thursday evening, an estimated 250 people gathered on the Stade in Hastings Old Town to hold a moving vigil for the 27 people who died when their boat capsized.
Last week, businesses and local people were thanked for helping 93 people who arrived on Hastings beach after being rescued by lifeboats in the Channel"

So you think that IF (which is what the poster said) we had our own Kristallnacht right now, the people who opposed BLM, stood outside of RNLI stations, comment on messageboards that we should let people drown in the channel, abuse muslims on public transport, attend far right rallies etc, would NOT be joining in with the state sponsored destruction ?

Why do you think they would draw the line there, but are happy to do some of the activities I've listed above?

If we "had a Kristallnacht"? You might as well say what about if we had a WW1, a Versailles, a Great Depression, etc etc etc.

It's baseless rubbish. It sounds like when Mark and Jez talk about hypothetical historical scenarios in Peep Show.

This could all be avoided if the UK government set up an asylum application service in France.

Over 90% of those crossing the channel seek asylum, so instead of risking their lives at sea, why not set up an office in Calais?

If they pass the test, which the majority do, bring them over safely.

If they don't, then set them free to take their chances.

In the past 10 to 15 years, as a nation we are giving more acceptance to the rise of insular xenophobia, hatred and racism that spawned the Nazi's.

Aided by the polices of a government voted in as a result, one that continues to fan the flames of immigration and racist hate to stay in power.

History should be used a tool to learn from past atrocities to ensure they never happen again, yet here we are.

I've just had an argument at work about the migrant crossings, the majority here were in favour, in fact positively encouraging the drowning or the allowing of migrants to drown, this is small town Yorkshire mentality I'm afraid. One of these chaps was protesting "its my country keep these sponging c**ts out !" really losing it ! Needless to say I found it horrifying !
bet he doffs his cap at the royals without a hint of irony about the sponging c$%*s

Off the topic completely, but anyone know why the RNLI is financed as a charity rather than being financed centrally like the police, ambulance and fire service ?
Don't know but they are the richest charity in the country by miles. Everyone loves them (apart from perma-angry right wingers, obviously), so they're always being left will donations.
