RIP Yosser Hughes (Bernard Hill)

What pishes me off is what is he best known for? Not a mention of that in the headline.

Yosser- “I’m desperate”:.
Priest “call me Dan”
Yosser “I’m desperate Dan”
😂😂😂 dark humour, great character.
Absolute class, I’d forgotten that 🤣🤣 also loved the lad hitch hiking to Jeopardy as he’d heard on the news that there were loads of jobs in Jeopardy 🤣🤣🤣 Alan Bleasdale is a genius 👏

I'd also highly recommend his turn as Steve Coogan's dad in the brilliant 'Sunshine', a 3-parter written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey.

Great actor, his Yosser character making us cry and smile in equal measures was brilliant. I remember the BFTBS being piloted on BBC2 12 months before it was set out in its series. I think we get very little of this sort of thing now, or even the "Play for Today", this stuff would go down a bomb with people again.
BH had an unmistaken voice doing fantastic narration of wildlife (wild China), Horizon a regular on that show, Timewatch and some of my favourite fascinating shows on the Indian Railways.

Some great content coming out in play for today back then. Real hard hitting social commentaries. The odd one has been repeated on BBC 4.
