RIP Ray Kennedy

Another childhood hero, great footballer and a lovely guy.

I read his book some years back and he came over very well. He was just starting to come to terms with having Parkinson's disease.

RIP

Part of probably the best midfield ever in English football.

Case - Souness - McDermott - Kennedy

This was in the age of English football's dominance in Europe and Liverpool's dominance of English football. Paisley said Kennedy was the player he had more enquiries from European teams about than any other player. That is saying something in a team containing Souness and Dalglish.

It really hit home today the suffering Ray Kennedy went through -- 35 years of an awful existence, very sad indeed, let's hope he's in a better place. RIP.

Ray was one of the greats. Marvellous footballer and left foot. I was moved watching the documentary about him in 1991 (I think) and bought the book Ray of Hope on the back of that. I've followed his progress since, with interest. Parkinsons Disease has affected my family considerably since then on both my side and my wife's. I've often dwelled on my interest and the family link.

Had a spell at Pools at the end of his career , still had a wand of a left foot .... life wasnt kind to him in the late 80s ... ...
