RIP Paul O`Grady

This has shoked me, 67 is no age these days too.

He was an excellent social commentator and, of course did a lot of work with animals. That makes him a god guy in my eyes.

Seemed jsut a really decent human being. Entertaining too, very very sharp

Shocked by this. I remember coming home from school and watching his chat show on ITV, with his dog Buster I think he was called. Loved his love for dogs.

RIP.

Lived 5 mins from me, never met him personally but people I know that did said he was a really friendly guy and had no pretensions about himself, basically what you saw presenting on tv was what you got meeting him in the street.

RIP Paul

I was just thinking the other day about how sad it was he wasn’t presenting on Radio2 any more. I wasn’t an avid listener by any stretch but having him on when on a long journey at the weekend was comforting. Very friendly, self-deprecating presenter. Yep, 67 is no age.

Funny and touching auto biog ... a very watchable and listenable guy on radio and TV ... hated his drag act tho , much better as himself ... sad news

Like everyone else, I am shocked and saddened to have woken to this news.

He is one of the few celebrities that I admired as an entertainer, broadcaster and all round good egg in normal life. He was so versatile, commanded an audience with his soft, easy going, laid back nature; one of the wittiest yet most empathetic people no matter what the situation. He would always make me feel like I’d lost a 50p coin and found a £50 note, no matter how happy or sad a situation was, he always understood how to raise awareness and find the positive out of desperate situations, his timely use of humour in difficult times was exemplary.

He really was a man deserving of the phrase ‘national treasure’ and will be sorely missed by the many charitable organisations he tirelessly and selflessly gave his time and money to. As already shown above, he always found time for anyone in his normal daily life and was kindness personified toward both his 2 and 4 legged friends.

Rest In Peace Paul, and thanks for the lovely memories.

RIP. A very nice fellow. I worked with him quite a few years ago and as Lily Savage he could be a nightmare. I ended up chatting to him over tea and asked him about his time as a social worker, he asked "why?' full of suspicion. I told him about my mum being a social worker, one of the first to work in the world of AIDS and how many lovely friendly gays used to visit our house. He never gave me any difficulty ever again and always had the kettle on whenever I walked past his dressing room. Extraordinarily funny.

What a shame
Loved his shows and his work for Battersea. If you haven't read his books, give them a look. They are really good.
RIP Paul

I didn't watch them very much because of Work, but I was told Paul O'Grady show was great comfort TV by Mrs W. I remember taking bags of hand knitten hats for babies to a charity (Save the Children?). Paul had highlighted how thousands of babies were dying in Africa, because their heads were too cold at night. Mrs W told the local hairdresser and she put up a poster and suddenly lots of salon customers were knitting these hats.

RIP Paul O'Grady - many are here today because of you.
