A brilliant actor and as you say, he's been in some great films. I got a shock that he was only 82, I thought he was a lot older than that.

Bumped into him at a cash machine in West London before Arsenal away in 2016/17 season. Very nice guy apologised for taking his time as he was in front of me. He was with his young grandson.

Michael spent time here in Beverley during the filming of the new version of Dads Army. RIP Dumbledore.

He was perfect to be portraying Dumbledore, he was the epitome of goodness in real life too. A friend of mine bumped into him in Bridlington and Michael spent 5 mins or so chatting with him and his wife as if they were old friends.

A huge loss to the real world, never mind the acting world. R.I.P. Michael x

Yes the Potter franchise had a stroke of fortune when Michael Gambon took over in
the role of Dumbledore. I couldn't imagine Richard Harris pulling off the more serious side of the character in later films that Gambon did so well.

When they were filming the Town Hall scenes in Bev, Michael and Bill Nighy would sneak off in uniform for a crafty smoke. If they saw anybody watching them they would come to attention and stick the V’s up at them, with big grins on their faces!
