RIP Lester Piggott

Passed away aged 86.
Won me a few shillings over the years. Bit dodgy when it came to the maths, but his record is astounding.

Was the very top jockey for years, when I was a lad, with Willie Carson and Pat Eddery in his shadow for a few years, a name that everybody knew, whether they knew anything about horse racing or not…..RIP.

Never been to the races, but then again never really interested. Been to the dogs though, Galveston Island, Texas, as you do! Won quite a chunk of money too, but never been again. To the dogs or Texas!

Do you recall those seaside arcade machines with the horses that went round a track and you popped your penny in the slot of the jockey. I can recall some of the names as

Lester Piggott
Scobie Breasley
Doug Smith
Gordon Richards
Wille Carson
Joe Mercer

When I opened your post I saw the names before reading your post and knew they were from the arcade game. ;)
