RIP David Shearer

Just read the sad news former Boro striker David Shearer has passed away aged just 63.

Scorer of the first goal I ever saw live in a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the 1979/80 season.

Met him at a Former Players dinner in 2017 at The Riverside, where he was resplendent in full Scottish regalia including kilt. Great character. RIP Sheikh.
RIP

I always liked him.
He used to miss a lot of chances but more than made up for it by creating far more than other players would.

RIP David. Saw most of your games for us.Always gave it your best.
Sad news indeed.

This is really sad news.

I was introduced to David Shearer by TC and asked to join their company in The Tiger, Normanby. I have known Terry for some years but Shearer brought something else out of him and both were willing to discuss their time at the Boro. Shearer stated he loved the area, and the people and talked fondly of his highs and lows at the club. The conversation came round to him kicking the taxi door outside the Maddison and he didn't pull any punches. The lad liked a few beers but who on here doesn't?

I was also at the games against Chelsea and Bishop Stortford and watched him a lot during his spell at the Boro, it will be for performances like the first two mentioned that he will be remembered.

RIP

Very sad news RIP.

For me this was his most memorable goal. Last minute winner and it just started to snow before we scored.

Shock to hear ... too young ... wasnt a suttle bone in his body when he was on the pitch ... eye for goal and head down blast it in
