RIP Alan Miller

I am very very saddened by this news. He will be forever in our hearts as a Boro Icon for this amongst other games.

29/4/95 - Last game at Ayresome Park

Alan Miller
Cox
Whyte
Vickers
Pearson
Blackmore
Moore
Robson
Pollock
Hendrie
Fjortoft

He then went on to start the next season keeping in that first ever game at The Riverside. He played one more game away at Newcastle before he lost his position in goal to Gary Walsh who Robbo bought from Man Utd.

I think I was 8 years old for the last game at Ayresome Park. Not too long after my family moved to Australia. I remember that day pretty clearly, sat on the standing rail barriers looking over a sea of red with my Dad, uncle and my brother. Walking home after it through the streets everyone singing.... Wow. Thanks for being part of that Alan Miller.

RIP.

He wrote a book when he was at the Boro called “A Miller’s Tale”, it’s been years since I read it but I think it was like a diary of that time with the club and detailed his ups and downs.

Very sad news. He played a big part in what was the start of probably the most exciting Boro period most of us will see. What a season that was! RIP Alan Miller.

I remember I used to go to the Riverside regularly when it was getting built just to watch the development and feel the buzz , and a couple of days before the opening game Alan and His family parking up near me and all taking In the excitement .

He was stood with a good few Boro fans and him and his family were as excited as us . RIP big fella

I remember Boro signing him from Arsenal and thinking bloody hell an Arsenal keeper!

52 is way too young and such a death tragic. RIP.

Sad news. He did well in that promotion season and was popular at West Brom, which was the best spell of his career really.
