Richard Kilty

Really feel for the lad as you could see he was absolutely delighted in his post-race interview with the result. Now he's been robbed of that moment.

Was always going to happen. British relay squads have had medals upgrded before when other teams were subsequenrly DQ'd for the same reason. I feel sorry for the inncoent team members.

Sad end and how brave he was to bring that medal back to his home town and show us.

but as above bolt lost his in same way.

Feel for him, as he's done nothing wrong, but I don't think there's any way to justify him keeping the medal in a team event when one of the team cheated.

I'm sure he'll understand it himself, even if it will still be gutting.

I'll bet he's actually glad that they missed out on gold by millseconds now as losing that would have been far, far worse.

I was reading the other day that the lad who tested positive will get a 2 yr ban.
If its proven they should ban him forever. The other 3 will have dreamed about getting an Olympic medal and have had it taken away from them by someone who couldn't hack it without cheating.

It's really painful for the innocent team mates, and I have every sympathy with them.

On the other hand, if he's guilty, it's the right decision: there is a team out there who were cheated out of a medal.

BOA used to give lifetime bans from competing at the Olympics for drug offences until WADA and CAS intervened and said it was unlawful. I think it was after Chambers challenged them because he wanted to try and compete at London 2012

It's not bad luck getting caught it's negligence in managing your PED regime/schedule.
I don't doubt that but a lot of people being caught at the moment are doping in very clumsy manners that almost guarantee that they will be caught.

Evidence shows that contaminated supplements are an issue and that the athlete is reliant upon the manufacturer maintaining the highest standards consistently and any failure on the part of the manufacturer is borne by the athlete giving a positive sample.

It is an unregulated market and there are even manufacturers contaminating their own products and not putting that in the ingredients so that they work better, produce better results. I'm sure that's great for 99.9% of people taking them but terrible for an elite athlete.

I think the UK sporting bodies, BOA etc should test and endorse supplements for use to ensure that innocent athletes aren't being caught out through no fault of their own.

Let's go after the real cheats.
