Returning To UK - Testing

Going away to Malta and returning on 10th October. I had misread the latest changes and seems I wrongly thought I only needed a LFT costing only £25, 2 days after returning. Was just about to order the tests and noticed that change does not happen until the end of October? And I still need to arrange a PCR Test.

2 things - can somebody confirm this is the case, and if so recommendations for places to order them from? Quick look suggests cheapest is around £60.

PS apologies if this has already been covered.

Yes it looks like you do need a PCR on day 2,im sure this will change to LFT after the half term holidays.

Randox do a kit for 43 quid I think. If you're going with TUI I think they have them for £20.

Expertmedical have some terrible reviews, about kits being lost or not sent on time and people having to subsequently pay more money for extra tests. We used randox with easyjet discount £43 per test. Dropped off at a clinic on marton Road last friday and got the results back on Saturday evening. The worst part was filling the registration in, took quite a while for the first one, but easier when you know exactly what information they want you to provide.

Used Randox about six weeks ago and all was fine. Will come back to the UK mid October and will need to use them again (farce) but at least won’t have to test before travel so a slight improvement.

I used a compaqny called Eurofins. They can send you packs for day 2 or they have a couple of drive throughs (one in Warrington) where you can get your PCR for about £20.

Yep, I'm off to Oslo and Eurofins can provide the pre-departure one over there (unfortunately the trip is before the 4th October cutoff).

How are these tests monitored? Do they check on you or do you have a travel portal that you have to update?

Using randox for Day 2 Test £43 each with discount code and C19 for pre departure tests £26.10 each with discount code.
Both have came recommended to us and TrustPilot reviews stack up.

Not at all is the answer. For all anyone knows you haven't put the swab anywhere near your nostrils or tonsils , just send the unused swab off in the liquid and you test negative. Crazy that the government allows this flawed testing regime
